Her face flooded with glee as she read the note, that was easy to figure out. Spinning on her heel, she whirled to head down the hallway to her dorm. Taped to the door was a mildly lopsided heart. She giggled. "Poor Teddy Bear." The girl murmured thoughtfully, picking it up carefully to read it. Before going to follow the next clue, she placed all of the clues she'd had so far on her nightstand after entering. Throwing her jacket on her bed, she left once more, unintentionally locking her dorm behind her. Well, her new roomie would likely be pissed off with her but Ash wasn't used to sharing her dorm with anyone. The girl would get over it.
Thinking back on what his clue said, she grinned, and headed for the barn. She debated taking Bandit but once she spotted him in the paddock, taking nips at other horses, she decided against it. She didn't want to end up getting bucked off by his playful, rambuctious actions and getting injured. Biting her lower lip, she headed up to the trail. It wasn't too far on the trail that she found the roses and the note. It was easy to tell they were roses, sure she couldn't see color but she could certainly tell what kind of flower it was and they smelled terrific. Plucking them and the note up, she inhaled their aroma with a grin and opened the note, glancing down at it.

The finally envelope that rested in the roses, read: Your final clue: :] We've never been here together, but the view is absolutely breathtaking, the colors are magnificent as the sun sets on the horizon and puts the town to sleep. I know colors are difficult for you, but the color to your world we'll be waiting here, at the end of the pier at one of the boat docks. [/i][/center][/color][/size] Jake made his way down to the beach, his black ford escape parked in the parking lot closest to the beach, he was nervous and excited all at the same time. Ashlynn was probably just getting her last clue, or was on her way to getting it. Jake left his shoes in the car and was in a the same pair of jeans from earlier, he rolled them up a bit not to get them covered in sand. There was one pier right in the middle of the beach that extended out into the water, not to deep though. But small boats for fishing and such were here; but no one was out at this time in the afternoon. The sun was sitting along the horizon, Jake walked up the few steps on the pier, and made his way down the long dock to the end- where he sat on the edge, and just let thoughts of Ashlynn run through his mind, he couldn't wait until she got here. He was nervous but still excited and to be honest he felt like he had butterflies in his stomach- he really hoped that she would say yes. Jake had also made a giant poster which he would give to Ashlynn once she got to Jake at the end of the peir. The poster had actually been done neatly- surprisingly enough, Jake had taken it all the way and put glitter on it just for Ashlynn hoping she'd think it was cute or silly or whatever, but he'd used glue to spell out PROM? written on the posterboard, but the glitter had been a pain in his ass. He'd laid the poster face down beside him on the dock, and awaited Ashlynn to arrive. He couldn't control his engery he was just so eagar for her to get here so he could get her answer.

She tilted her head, re-reading the note over with a grin. She was fairly new in town, so of course she didn't immediately guess there was only one pier but then she thought back to the day she'd arrived. She'd been sitting in her social worker's Honda Civic, staring out the window and marveling at the pier. It had been the only one she'd seen, at least thats he could remember. Chewing idly on her lower lip, once more she got into the car and within a short amount of time, and pulled into the parking lot. She got out of the car, leaving the door hanging open as she removed her shoes - she'd end up breaking her ankle if she tried to walk in these on a beach, or even the pier for that matter. Tossing them into her car, she giggled at the feel of sand between her toes. In all honesty, she felt like a little kid again. She hadn't been to the beach but one time in her life, after all, she'd lived in Brooklyn - the only "beach" there was the park's sand box and a puddle next to it. She spotted Jake down at the end of the pier and honestly, it took all she had not to run to the end of the pier and throw her arms at him. Raising one hand to shield her eyes from the sun's glare, she slowly began walking down the long pier. Once she arrived at the end, she glanced down to the posterboard he held with a goofy half-smile. Unable to contain her glee, her heart immediately began to hammer and she threw her arms around him, covering the side of his face and neck in countless kisses.

Jake sat at the end of the pier for a few more moments, before he turned around to see if Ashlynn was coming yet, to his surprise there she was making her way down the beach, a wide smile spread across his face as he held up the silly sign that he'd made for her. When she got to the end of the pier Jake set down the sign and then he wrapped his arms around her waist and picked her up. He returned all of her kisses eagerly, and then held her their and smiled at her, So is that a yes or no? He said still smiling at the beautiful teen. He planted more kisses along Ashlynn's neck, and on her lips- a contagious smile across his face, then he asked So- did you like the surprise?

with a gleeful laugh, Ashlynn bounced up and threw her arms around his neck, squeezing him in a tight hug. Smiling, she pressed her lips against his neck and breathed in. God, everything about this boy was perfect in her opinion. "Make that a hell yes!" She exclaimed happily, her arms remaining around his neck. She leaned her face against his shoulder and closed her eyes briefly.
in all honesty, there was nothing she felt like doing more than telling Jake she was falling love with him. But she was too damn scared too. The night he'd slept over at her dorm, she thought she'd just dreamed telling him she was falling for him, and him saying he was falling for her too. she sunk her teeth into her lower lip and sighed happily.

As Ashlynn told him that it was a hell yes, he couldn't help but grin down at her. It felt as the world was lifted off his shoulders, knowing that she was going to go with him. He kissed her forehead and just held her there in his arms, he never wanted to let go. He'd never felt this way about anyone before. Well, I'm glad you said yes, Jake said to her, leaning down to kiss her softly on the lips, his arms still wrapped around her. He had this contagious smile plastered to his face, he was so happy right now. So beautiful.. he said smiling at her and giving her a small kiss, then finishing with, what do you want to go do now?

closing her eyes, she leaned against him, her arms flung securely around his neck. she peered up at him, opening her eyes slowly and giving him a wide smile. "anything, love.'' she paused, long enough to flash him a warm smile.
"as long as it involves you, i'm happy." she murmured softly, kissing him softly before leaning back, glancing up at the sun. it was setting. sure, she couldn't see the beautiful colors as they crawled across the sky, and drug the sun down towards the horizon, but nonetheless, there were hundreds of different variations of gray rocketing across it.
a tell-tale sign that the sun was going down, not to mention the position. glancing up at him, she laughed contently. "how about you, bear?"

Anything? He said, a large smile- slowly spreading across his face as he picked up Ashlynn in his arms and carried her to the edge of the dock, swinging her like he was about to throw her off, or the two would jump in together. But he was totally kidding her then turned around, and set her on her feet, and keep his arms curled around her waist his hands resting on the small of her back. He smiled down at her, he thought of what kind of adventure they could go have, just as Ashlynn has mentioned- he didn't care what they did either as long as he could be with her. He looked down at her, and stared into her beautiful blue eyes, lost in thought for a few moments before an idea came into his head. Let's go for a walk, Jake said to her smiling, raising an eyebrow at his thoughts, seeing if going for a walk on the beach would be okay with her. There's still so much more I want to learn about you, he told her with a smile.

ashlynn nodded, sidling against him and cuddling against his body with a grin. she loved the fact they could just be with one another without either of them feeling pressured to do anything stupid. closing her eyes, she smiled to herself as they began walking along the beach.
remembering his earlier words, she nodded and opened her eyes, peering up at him. "but I'm such a boring person." She laughed softly, looking out towards the slowly setting sun with a half-smile "well, i want to either do psychology or .. acting when I get out of Cantebury," she paused, her smile becoming sad. Leaving Canterbury would mean leaving Jake, wouldn't it? Biting her lip, she looked at him with a broad smile- though it was more or less forced. "I actually hadn't planned on staying this entire year .. 'till I met you." She murmured softly, laughing nervously.

Jake laced his fingers inbetween Ashlynn and glanced over and smiled at her, as they made there way back down the pier and into the warm sand. It felt so right, so perfect to be here with her, nothing matter- it was just them and he was so comfortable around here, and it didn't matter if he acted stupid or silly, he knew that he and ashlynn would just laugh it off. As he listened to her talk about what her dreams were when she was out of highschool, out of canterbury. She said that she wanted to go into physcology or acting, he smiled at her and turned his head slightly to look at her and said, That's awesome, Ash. A smile resting over his lips, then he heard her say she wasn't on originally planning on staying at canterbury the entire year. Thinking about not finishing the school year with Ashlynn almost made his heart stop, he hadn't been with Ashlynn to long, but the thought of her not being here killed him. He was definitely falling in love with this girl.
He stopped in his tracks and pulled Ashlynn to him, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed his forehead to hers, and spoke softly almost at a whisper, You better stay, I don't know what I'd do without you here for the rest of the year with me, he told her with a smile on his face, and then leaned in to gently kiss her on the lips before adding,Especially, in calculus- I would actually might have to do work if you weren't there! he said teasing her playfully. His hands resting on the small of her back, their bodies pressed together he leaned down and kissed her passionately, then moved his lips to her neck, and kissed her gently there- over and over.

it was now that ashlynn was torn. she knew she was falling for jake, but she didn't want it to happen. stupid things happened to people in love. instantly, she was reminded of her mother - and how much she'd changed when her father had left. she had been young at the time, but not too young as not to remember those dreadful nights. her electric blue eyes fell on his smile and she felt her heart skip several beats, and her jaw quivered. it was unbelievable the things he did to her. that smile of his melted her heart every damned time she saw it.
he stopped short and pulled her to him, his hands around her and at the small of her back - their bodies pressed against each other. she whimpered softly, nibbling on her lower lip as she closed her eyes, resting her head on his chest. his heart beat was definitely something that could become her lullaby. it was soothing, and it seemed that it's wild pounding matched her own. now, she smiled, opening her eyes to glance up at him. "only for you." ashlynn murmured, flushing scarlet across her pale cheeks.
"calculus blows anyway." she murmured playfully, smiling up at him brightly.

Jake still held Ashlynn there in his arms, the wind coming from the rolling tides, and the setting sun caused the air to be slightly chiller than it was when they'd gotten to the beach, You aren't cold are you? Jake asked his arms still around her, willing to keep her warm if she was cold. He smiled down at her. Jake knew that Ashlynn really liked him, as he really liked her alot to, but Jake wasn't sure if he'd scared her with his talk earlier of wanting to spend forever, etc, with her.
He finally let his left arm unwrap from around her, and he laced his fingers again with hers and continued to walk down the beach, Ash- can I ask you something? he said to her, he wanted to be sure it was okay with her before he asked, he didn't want to ask anything to personal unless she was okay with it.

she looked at him, tilting her head - her look one of sheer and utter curiosity. a thousand thoughts seemed to swarm her immediately, and she bit her lower lip in thought. "go for it, babydoll." she paused, tightening her grip on his fingers out of nervous habit.
"you can ask me anything, love." she murmured, laughing nervously - she knew her palms were probably getting sweaty. she couldn't damn help it though.

Jake listened as she gave him the okay, to ask her anything. Jake stole a glance at her from the corner of his eye and smiled slightly at her. He thought of how to word this question, before asking it. Do you ever wish that you were back with you ex? he asked her, the question was very blunt and straight to the point, but he didn't really know anyother way of getting it out there. He looked at her nervoulsy for a moment, not completely sure that he wanted to here her answer, but he'd asked for it. When she tightened her fingers around his, he smiled to himself and gently rubbed his thumb over her hand. The sun was beginning to fall behind the horizon of the ocean, and nightness was beginning to fall over the town. Jake slowed down his pace and stopped walking once more and standing in front of Ashlynn he smiled at her, and then took her other hand in his other hand, and held them up together, he leaned down to kiss her, he kissed her softly and slowly for a few moments, before breaking the kiss, and a smile spread slolwy across his face, So, what do you want to do tonight? He asked her, thinking of a couple of ideas that could do together.

his smile caused his question to catch her off guard and she stared at him blankly for several minutes. "No, but.." she paused, lips pursing thoughtfully, lost in thought for several moments. As he rubbed his thumb over her hand, she instinctively snatched her hand back - reminded of times that were long gone. glancing up at him, she gave him an apologetic smile. "I wish.. that things were back how they were before my dad left my mom. Before she totally lost her mind and I lost Kristie. But in a weird way, I'm sort of glad. I met you now."
with a soft sigh, she laced her fingers back in his own. glancing up at him, she smiled brightly. "whatever you want to."
