Levi did the last of the saddling up on Gold. Gold had done good so far. They were about to head out to the beach to meet Delany and her horse. The sun was about to set and he wanted to get there so that they could see the sun actually setting. People raved about how pretty it was when the sun was going down. Levi wanted to see it. He lead May outside. He looked at the clock that was hanging on the barn wall before he walked out. He had five minutes to ride to the beach to meet Delany. He smiled as he climbed on top of Gold. Gold moved a few steps eager to go. The blue saddle pad and black English saddle held it wait.
Levi pushed Gold into a canter and took off toward the beach. Soon the sand greeted him and he waited by the big rock where he told Delany to meet him. Whoah Gold. Levi said pulling Gold up to a stop. The wind was lightly blowing but otherwise the temperature was perfect. Levi shifted his eyes on the horizon of the beach and then looked for Delany. He didnt see her anyway. He patted Gold's chestunut neck and smiled. This was his first time riding Gold and so far the stallion had been a gentleman. He sat waiting for Delany.

The girl cantered down the beach, looking completely uncomfortable in the English saddle. She was late. She smiled sheepishly at Levi as she approched at a canter, which she found more comfortable than the trot, which she hadn't quite figured out in the English get-up yet. A western rider she was, an English rider she was decidedly not. Sorry I'm late...I couldn't figure out how anything went.. she laughed and rolled her eyes. I'm starting to wonder what I got myself into she said with a laugh.
The big mare beneath her appeared to be something with some sort of Clydesdale blood. Easy, Fudge she murmured as the mare jittered, stretching out her nose toward the stallion. She smiled and shook her head. She was a steady rider, sitting easily in place, straight and tall. She was a horse woman for sure, even if she wasn't an English rider. Shall we then? she asked, and turned Fudge down the shoreline. She held the reins in one hand, loose and easy, more like a Western rider than an English rider. And she was more of a Western rider than an English rider. She'd grown up around nothing but Western. SHe'd hardly even seen an English saddle, let alone tried to ride in one. Some might have said she was helpless, when it came to English riding, anyway. And who knew? Maybe she was...

Levi smiled as he seen Delany and her horse coming his way. It's alright. Levi said. Maybe sometime I help you out with all this English stuff. Levi offered lightly. He remembered his first time riding in an English saddle. It was aqward but he grew onto it quickly with a little help from some friends. It took time but now look at him. Not wanting to switch back over to Western anymore. Yea he still would ride it on the cattle horses back at home but English was his preferance now. He smiled at Delany and nodded his head.
Lets head out. He said kicking the stallion into gear. They started off in a walk and headed down the beach. Levi smiled and looked over at Delany. So...tell me something I dont know about you yet. Levi said wanting to know more about her. All he knew was what she told him when they were dancing. There was a lot of things that Delany didnt know about him. Like she doesnt know I like her. Levi said to himself mentally. He laughed at that lightly just for thinking it. He rested one of his hands on Gold's chestnut neck and the other hand held the reins loosely. Gold wasnt to hard to handle but he was sorta "showy offy" around Delany's mare. Levi kept him on the right tracks though.

She smiled and nodded. Yeah, that'd be cool she said with a smile. She played with the braided English reins, shaking her head. I should've just ridden bareback she mumbled as she wiggled uncomfortably in the saddle. I might as well have, as there's like, nothing there. She wrinkled her nose and laughed. [bSomething you don't know? [/b] she asked with a grin. Something like I should've stuck to Western? But I guess you already knew that. She grinned. Ummm...I love writing she said with a firm nod. Anything. Songs, poems, stories. I've been writing since I was a little kid. Of course, I've improved since then, but I still have a couple of the "stories" I wrote when I was like, seven. SHe thought a moment. And I'm a bit of a packrat. I can't stand throwing stuff away. If it has memories attatched to it, or even if it doesn't, and it just makes me think of one particular time or place or person, I can't throw it away. She smiled and shook her head. I still have one of those little "best friend" lockets from like, third grade. The chick with the other half turned out to be a preppy biatch, but I can't throw it away because we did have good times! She laughed. Pathetic, I know. Ok, I said two. Your turn. Two things I don't know about you yet. Her gaze turned out to the water. It was interesting, th is boy's desire to know more about her. Usually she was the one tring to figure other people out. She had a habit of feeling like she ought to protect people, like she ought to save the world, and as a result she'd learned to read people's body language, much the same way she'd learned to read her horses. She could tell when they were hiding something, and when they were nervous, or uncomfortable, just from the way they spoke. Eyes were a big part of it. Eyes were the door to the heart. Ands he wasn't maniuplative with this knowledge of people. She simply used to it figure out what people were all about. After all, you had to know someone before you could help them, right? She heaved a sigh. What're you doing, Del? she asked heserself. Falling head over heels in love with someone you've only met once can't be safe. Her hair was left tow ander, and the gentle ocean breeze tangled the curls around one another. She reached up tot uck a strand behind her ear as the wind blew it across her face. She glanced back at Levi with a smile, expectantly waiting. ((OOC: Like whoah...Huge burst of muse there. xD))[/size][/blockquote]

Levi smiled when she said she liked to write. His favorite class was creative writing back in his old school. Alright well. I like taking photos of anything like animals espcially horses to nature. Anything that looks like a clear nice picture would come out of. Like this sunset tonight or being on the beach. Just something unique. Levi said. He searched his head for a second thing to say about himself. I also like to draw. Horses are something I draw a lot. Levi said smiling. He knew what Delany meant by not being able to throw things away because they had memories. He was the same way with things that meant something good to him. Some memories he did want to throw out but what was he going to do? Throw away his sister?
Levi heard the waves and the steps of the horses as he looked at Delany and then smiled. I did sports just to get out of the house too. It was my only way to get out of the house. Levi said saying a third thing. He was always into sports before his family went corrupt but after it all happened he was really into sports. Levi smiled again and looked back at Delany. He decided to keep the secret that he liked her to himself. He wasnt going to go and tell her right off cause that would be sorta weird. And she would think your a freak. Levi thought to himself. He didnt want to spill anything that was going to risk anything.

She smiled a bit and nodded. She knew the feeling. That was the whole reason she was here, wasn't it? To get away from the crazy, hectic, stressful life that was being lived out back home. She heaved a sigh. She still felt a bit guilty for it. After all, she was just running away and leaving everyone else to deal with her portion of the problems. And some of them were hers, she knew.
She glanced at him and smiled. I've always loved photography and drawing and stuff, but I never really had a knack for it. She shook her long dark curls out of her face, revealing her huge blue eyes. She shrugged a bit, her eyes trailing to the sunset. Ok, my turn I guess, since you gave three... she said with a slight smile. As I'm sure you might have noticed, I have a bad habit of running from my problems and hoping they sort themselves out... Her gaze was distant as she peered across the water. Like with the whole ranch thing.. her voice was soft, blue eyes unseeing as they gazed across the water. Umm....I hate the heat. I don't do well with it. I get half sick. But I can stand pretty much any temperature in cold weather. We always had really long winters back home, and everybody else would come in from chores and be whining about how cold it was, and I'd just be hunky doory and working my horses and stuff. She laughed. I did get frostbite a couple times, though, which was unpleasent. SHe smiled.

Levi smiled. he didnt expect Delany to state three things like he did. I know what you mean by running away from problems. I ran away from our ranch becuase well I couldnt live with the stress of it all. We had just lost our ranch and then my mom coming home saying she was pregnant with another guys baby besides my dad. I just had to get away from it all. Levi said. That always haunted him. He was thirteen then and he could remember the day perfectly. If only I could have prevented such a horrible tradgedy. Levi thought to himself. He looked at Delany and smiled. When he was around her he was happy and his past didnt seem to bring him down.
He patted Gold's neck. Gold was being really good and behaving well. Levi adjusted the reins in his hands and tryed something new with Gold. He wondered if Gold could do a Flying Change but he would wait to try that in the dressage ring or in the arena. Levi smiled and then looked over at Delany. The horses hooves sunk in the sand and Levi smiled at Delany.

She glanced over and smiled sympathetically. I'm sorry she murmured. Her voice and eyes screamed louder than her actual words. She pressed her heel into the quiet mare's side and the mare stepped obediantly over, closer to Levi. Her hand reached out toward his, even though his fingers were closed around his own reins. Life sucks she said softly, resolutely.
She laughed a bit. It's like my daddy always said..."Life's tough and then you die." She smiled a bit. She shrugged. It's the honest to goodness truth, too.
She glanced over to Levi and offered another of her sympathetic smiles. For all she ran from her own problems, it would appear she had no problem bearing other people's for them. She heaved a sigh as her gaze trailed over to the sunset, painting the sky hues of blue and purple and orange and pink, and casting the water and the beach in a warm orange glow...

Levi smiled at Delany. Thanks. Levi said. He looked into her blue eyes. When she touched his hand his heart skipped a beat. He smiled and he took his hand off of the reins and grabbed her hand and laced his fingers through her fingers. He looked at her to see her reaction. He didnt know what she would think. He hoped she didnt mind but if she did he was in trouble. He looked forward to see the sunset on the lining of the ocean. He smiled it was the best veiw he had ever seen. It seemd to make everything in his mind go away. He was having even more fun becuase he was with Delany and he was riding horses. He smiled and then looked down the sand being crunched by the horses hooves. The ocean waves crashed and it was a relaxing sound that could almost relax most people. He looked at Delany and then tryed to think of smothing to say.
I'm glad you agreed to come on a ride with me. Levi said. He gave her hand a small squeez. A smile sat on his face. This has been the best day so far since he has gotten to Canterbury. He hoped he would have many more with Delany too. Are you ready for the prom this weekend? Levi asked her. He wondered if she had her dress yet cause he needed to go rent a tux so that he could match.

The girl smiled, nudging Chocolate closer so Levi didn't pull her off as the mare tried to drift away. She squeezed his hand in return. Me too she murmured, in response to his "I'm glad you came." Her gaze drifted from Levi beyond him to the setting sun, painting the sky. It was definitely an amazing view. But not as pretty as Montana she thought to herself. For all she was far from home, she'd always be a Montanan. Probably until the day she died.
She glanced at him and nodded. Of course she said with a teasing smile. Her fingers were still laced through his, and she shook a strand of dark hair out of her eyes. Her gaze again drifted to the setting sun. Chocolate tossed her head. The bit jangled softly with the motion and Delany smiled a bit to herself. It was beautiful down here. She loved it. It did indeed seem like a perfect day.

Levi smiled at Delany. He still had his fingers laced between her fingers. He never wanted to let go but he knew he was going to have to some time. Gold kept walking and occasionaly leaned his nose to get a smell of Delany's horse. Levi's smile never left his face but he turned his head lightly to look ahead. He didnt know how long this ride would last but he didnt care. If he had a choice he didnt want it to end. Awesome. Levi said when he mentioned about her dress. He wondered what Canterbury's prom would be like. He had only gone to one other prom in his life and that was back at home. It was pretty lame and he didnt dance much. It was the type of dance where the girls sat on one side and the boys on the other. No one danced you just talked.
It's deffinatly not going to be like that. Levi told himself. He was going to have fun with Delany. And they were probably going to dance all night long...or until they got tired. He couldnt help but wonder about the prom. He shook it from his thoughts and returned to reality. He gave her hand another squeeze. He liked Delany and he enjoyed being with her.

((OOC: Ohhh my goodness. I am SO sorry! Things have been crazy with track and a school play and stuff, so sorrrry it took so long. :/))
The girl smiled and nodded. Yeah. I'm excited she responded quietly but with sincerity in her voice. Her quiet smile never slipped from her features, either.
Her thoughts trailed to a song by Blink 182, she was pretty sure. She wasn't too up-to-date on that s tyle music. She listened to mostly country, but the line went something like "and in the night, we'll wish this never ends, we'll wish this never ends." She smiled. It seemed rather fitting.
That struck a conversation started in her mind. What kinda music do you like? she asked curiously, tipping her head toward him. It was a polite gesture, but it was a guy-magnet she didn't even realize. The way she tipped her head just slightly to the side made it seem like you had her undivided attention. And she did, but it was a very flattering, sweet thing. It was a Delany thing. She really just was a sweet heart...

Levi smiled at her. He really liked her more then he thought he did. He tried to hide his blush. Levi smiled again and laughed lightly. I listen to mostly country and pop. What about you? Levi asked interested. He liked learning new things about Delany. He really didnt want this night to end because he was having a fun time with Delany.
He looked into her blue eyes and smiled. He would probably always remember this night. It was just perfect, the weather, the beach and of course the horses. He just wondered if now would be the right time. Just wait, she hardly knows you. Plus you wouldnt want to freak her out. Levi said to himself. Instead he turned to hear what she was going to say about music.
(OCC: its ok! lol we all have other things to do!)

She smiled and nodded. Well, I'm still a country girl at heart. She laughed. I somehow managed to end myself up in the citty, but I'm a country girl through and through...So I listen to basically nothing but country. I mean, I guess I've heard some of the modern stuff..Evanescence and stuff.. She shrugged. They're alright I'm still a country fan, though.. She grinned sheepishly, knowing that in the big city like this it was probably kind of nerdy.
But honestly, she didn't particularly care. She'd always been a very independent type person. She'd never cared what anyone back home thought, and they'd all loved her for it, because she was the only one who wasn't trying to be something she wasn't to get popular. Maybe it'd be the same way here. THen again, things, she suspcted, were more clique-y than back home, so maybe not. Who knew? SHe'd find out eventually...

Levi smiled. Yea country music is pretty good. Levi said. On his ipod he had all types of music like some of the new music that came out. Have you ever been to any concerts? Levi asked. He had been to one country concert and that was to see Kenny Chesney. That was a few years ago when he went. He went with his family and they had had a lot of fun. Levi smiled and then looked over at Delany.
((Sorry its sooo short but I have to go to school! sorry.))
