Yea I enjoy basketball. It's fun. Levi said smiling. I've never done track though. Levi said. He didnt know if he would ever be able to do track cause it would probably bore him. He liked running, just not going around and around on a track. Luckly for Levi he went to a small enough school where he made varsity in every sport he made since he started playing sports. He had to say basketball was his favorite. He loved all of them but something about basketball made him want to keep playing.
I ride both english and western but I ride english mainly. I jump. Levi answered her. So you like to go fast. Levi said mentioning her events like barrel racing. My little sister loves barrel racing. Levi said. He loved watching barrel racing cause he liked to see both rider and horse determined to get the fastest time. It was like jumping in a way where both rider and horse put a lot of heart into it and both had power to clear the jump. Levi smiled as they were talking and still dancing. He was movng his feet to the beat still and his hand was still on her hip.

She nodded. It looks like fun she responded. She heaved a sigh, then smiled. Yeah, it's a rush she said with a smile. My most recent horse, she was one I was trainin for my Daddy, and he gave her to me. Anyway, Wildfire, she basically loved going fast as much as I did, and she'd push and push. I think she's probably the fastest horse I've ever met. And I've met some pretty fast horses. She smiled and nodded reflectively. Yeah, jumping looks like fun. I guess the mare I'm riding is a jumper, so I suppose I'll be getting into it. She shrugged. The song changed and she glanced over to the "bar." Wanna go sit? she asked curiously. She figured they'd hand the stage over for a while and come back at it later, maybe.

Sure. Levi nodded as he followed her toward the bar. He smiled as he was making his way through the crowd right behind Delany. That was fun. Levi thought to himself. He thought about Gold and how he should probably go and ride him sometime soon. Yea I have ridden some pretty fast horses but I doubt they are as fast as yours. Levi said mentioning horses again. He looked back into her eyes as he took a seat. He pushed up the sleeves of his sweatshirt. The smile stuck on his face.

The girl smiled as she settled herself on a stool again. She nodded a bit. Yeah, I think I'll miss barrel racing and stuff, but I just really can't stand to stay at the ranch these days... She shrugged, her blue eyes turning sober. THings are going downhill fast she murmured, knowing it was rude to drop a bomb like that and then keep him waiting. Money's tight. Feed's gone up, calf price has come down, plus we had a hard winter...REAL hard winter... She shrugged again, trying to pretend like it was someone else. And, even now, it still seemed to her it was. It must be. This was the sort of thing that only happened in movies, or only to other people...Not to her! We're selling off big chunks of land and downsizing the herds, both cattle and horses. The land's been in our family for a couple generations. I grew up riding there and running around barefoot, so it's weird to think of it belonging to someone else. She heaved a slight sigh. She knew that it didn't sound that bad to say it, but it was like moving away, only worse, because she had to see it in other people's hands. When it was all she had ever known, it was a pretty weird feeling. Plus her parents were pretty stressed, and it honestly didn't help much. Just made the whole house seem kind of st ressful. She'd just wanted to get away. And so here she was.

Levi nodded about what she said about her farm. He knew exactly what she was going through. It used to happen to him and now they own no land whatsoever. Yea, happened to us too. My family used to have stable hands along with us helping but then mom went off and got a job and left the family. Money went down cause the prices started going up. Got rid of the hands first then the land. We werent going to sell the animals but it came down to where we had to. I had to sell my best horse but I made sure he went some where good. Now my family owns our yard which isnt very big and the house. Its weird cause to go get our newspaper I am walking on someone elses land. Levi said. That wasnt even the bad part of his problems Yes he hated loosing the farm that he once grew up on and the barns where him and his friends would meet up and prank call girls or just talk. Things change though.
I just wish things wouldnt have changed. If my mom hadnt left maybe we would have been ok. Then again maybe not because prices went up but prices went up for the hands too when my mom left. Levi explained. I hope everything works out for your family though. Levi said giving her a reassuring smile. He looked into her eyes. Sometimes things were hard but thats what made people stronger. Sure things at the time seem like the end of the world and it may be but it only makes you a stronger person for making it through it. Yea it would be a hard next few months but hopefully things would be ok.

She noded sympathetically. Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong..I'm not complaining or anything. She shrugged, pulling her feet up on the stool and resting her chin on her knees, her arms wrapping around her leg. I know I still have a lot to be thankful for... Her blue eyes gazed distantly at the people on the dance floor, not really seeing them. My parents are still together, at least... She turned her head so her cheek was on her knees and gave him a sympathetic smile. They've been really good through all this..Just kinda stood like rocks, but I mean, they're only people. She shrugged. I still kind of feel like I'm running away but... she shrugged almost helplessly. She suddenly realized that she felt vulernable. She hadn't talked about the ranch at all. And she didn't like feeling vulnerable. Not one bit. She wasn't the vulnerable sort. She was an independent person, and she didn't like depending on people.
Dance again? she asked, tipping her head toward the dance floor. She uncurled her long legs and rose to her feet...

Yea I know what you mean by feeling like running away. I felt the same except mine was from my step sister and mom. My parents are still together but my dad took my mom back after she went and had a kid with another guy when they were still married...but he took her back. Levi said. He said looking into her eyes. He knew it was going to be hard to get over but some how he thought it was his mom who needed to apologize for the family not him saying sorry for things he didnt even do. Levi looked toward the dance floor after she mentioned dancing again. He smiled at her and nodded his head.
Sure! Lets go dance. He said standing up beside her. He grabbed her and headed toward the dance floor. He smiled and looked into her eyes. He listened to the music a bit before starting to dance.

She smiled, tugging him out onto the dance floor. Her smile was back, bright and white and beautiful. She listened to the music a moment. You lead she murmured softly. She took his hand in hers, putting the other on his shoulder. She shook a stray strand of hair out of her eyes as a new song started. She waited for him to lay out the steps. She could follow just about anything, but it was his job to lead.
She smiled a bit as the music picked up to a slightly faster song. You're good.. she said with a nod. Her feet followed him almost subconciously. Almost without thought. A smile touched her lips.

Levi smiled a toothy grin. He enjoyed being around Delany. He made everything seem like everything was great! And your starting to like her. Levi heard himself saying to himself. He shook the thought from his head not wanting to ruin anything. He started dancing his hand on her hip while doing the steps. You are too. Levi said meaning to how she was dancing. He looked into her eyes and smiled. His steps were light on the ground as they moved a little faster. This was the best day he has had in a long time.
His eyes shined as he kept dancing. The music blaring over the speakers. We should ride on the beach together someday. Levi said smiling. That would be fun and the beach was so pretty at sunset. Levi felt light butterflies in his stomach but he shooed them away. No need for the butterflies right now. He was crushing he just didnt want to ruin things. He continued dancing in the rythem of the music.

Delany felt her cheeks flush with pleasure at the compliment. Whoah girl, what are you doing? she demanded of hersellf. Luckilly it was just a barely noticable tinge to her cheeks. She smiled, letting her feet carry her to the music.
Definately she responded with a nod. We don't have beaches where I come from..Just the river. She smiled. Me and my best friend logged some pretty fun hours down there. She smiled. Good memories. She nodded firmly. I love the water. She laughed. Mom says I took to it like a fish. I basically had no fear.. She laughed.

Levi smiled. There was no ocean from where he was from. He remembered going to Miami with his family and they had a fun time. Him and his sister liked to havea water fight. He hadnt been to the beach in Canterbury yet so he thought it would be fun to go. Levi laughed quietly as she told him about the water. Yea we would always ride our horses to this area where there was water and we would swim for hours on horseback and stuff like that. Levi said remembering when him and some friends would go back there and swim. Him and his sister would go to just to get away from the farm problems but since she was 4 years younger then him she was always to small to go far. They would just play games on there horses to keep busy. Levi shook the past from his head. He didnt want to think about it anymore. He just wanted to enjoy this time with Delany. He looked into her eyes as he kept dancing to the music.

Delany smiled. That's fun she murmured quietly. She let Levi lead her in the steps, her mind wandering. It'll be interesting to see where we go with this... she thought to herself. It wasn't like she really had much expirience in the whole dating thing...
She'd tended to stay away from the guys back home. They were all stupid and dirty, and partied almost non stop. Not to mention they hadn't been into horses in the slightest. She heaved a sigh. That's what happens when you get away from home, she supposed. You find out that there are better guys out there than you'd originally thought.
She heaved a sigh. She wasn't sure she even wanted a guy. It seemed to her like guys were hight maitenence. But maybe not. Delany, what are you doing?! she demanded of herself. She dragged out of her reverie and smiled softly, gazing back into Levi's eyes...

Yea it was quite fun. Even though some of the people thought we were in my barn drinking and partying we werent. We never would but because we were the jocks of the school they thought we did all that "cool" stuff. To tell you the truth I have never drank yet in my life. Levi said looking into Delany's eyes. Sometimes some boys made fun of him for not drinking but he would rather not drink and play sports then drink and get into trouble and not be able to play sports. He looked at Delany and smiled. He lead the way on dancing. He adjusted his hands on her hip and moved his feet to the music. He smiled and listened to see what Delany had to say.
Levi's heart skipped a beat as he looked into her eyes. I dont know what to do? Levi asked himself. He knew he had a crush on Delany but he didnt want to make things weird. He didtn really know how to sort his feelings. He wondered if Delany thought he was crazy. He shook his head and looked into her eyes again. A smile placed on his face his blue eyes sparkled. He lightly shook his head to adjust his hair so that it felt right on his forehead.

Yeah she murmured quietly. I guess I didn't get out much. I was always doing school or helping out with the ranch, but I had friends from the school. We hung out and rode a lot. The boys back home were all pretty hard core partiers. She shrugged. Part of why I never really did pick up a boyfriend. They were all stupid and got themselves dead drunk every weekend. She laughed. They were all pretty shameless flirts, too, which bothered me. She shrugged again. She tipped her head to the side to toss a loose strand of curly dark hair out of her eyes. She smiled at him, looking at his eyes again. Her own heart skipped a beat, and she felt herself s tart to freak. What if my hand's sweaty? What if I step on him? and the paniced "what ifs" continued. Relax, Del.. she said suddenly, and laughed at herself. You're being rediculous.

Levi smiled as she spoke to him. He understood exactly what she meant. All the boys were like that back at his home too but his group of friends didnt drink or get into trouble. Levi didnt like those guys cause they never got caught and would still start on the sports team. Oh my gosh I know what you mean! And the girls would always drink with the guys just so that they could "score" for the night... Levi said. He never liked the girls at home cause they would hook up with you for something. Levi never did cause he was always to busy to go to their "parties". Levi never got the point of why people got so drunk. Couldnt they have fun without getting wasted? Obviously you werent having fun if you have to have beer to make you have fun. Levi looked at Delany again everytime he looked into her eyes his heart skipped a beat. What are you doing? Levi asked himself.
