Jackie was dressed in a pair of dark denim skinny jeans, and she had a sweatshirt from Aeropostale on and socks and slippers on her feet. She really didn't care who saw her dressed like this, even though she knew that to some people she probably looked ridiculous. Jackie had a book tucked under her arm, she brought it along to read- just incase she didn't find something good on t.v or there was nothing else to really do. She strolled over to the couch and plopped herself down on one end and curled her legs up under her and leaned against the arm of the couch. She picked up the remote and scanned through the channels- not finding anything good. So she flicked off the televison, and picked up her book and set her bookmark on the arm of the couch and began to read, She was reading 'Riding Lessons' by Sara Gruen.
She hoped that maybe someone would come along and talk with her so she wouldn't just have to sit her and read for awhile. Don't get her wrong- she loved to read although she didn't tell many people. Her fuzzy lime green slippers kept her feet warm while she sat and read. She looked up from her book for a moment to gaze around the extremely empty room.

Levi walked into the room. He shook his shaggy hair that sorta needed to be cut. It wasnt extremely long just went to his forehead. He had his homework in his hands but he didnt really want to do it. He walked into the gathering hall his basketball shoes squeeking with every step he took. He put his other hand in his shorts pocket. He noticed that there was a girl sitting there. Levi walked up to the coach and seen that she was reading.
Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here? Levi asked. He hoped the girl didnt mind. He didnt really know anyone here at Canterbury yet so he was hoping to meet some new people. Levi ran his fingers through his hair and pushed it off of his forehead. He noticed what book she was reading. He had read it before. It was a good book. I read that book. In my old school. Levi said pointing to the book. At his old school he had to write a report on it too. He didnt mind it since it was about horses and he liked horses. He looked at the open seat beside her. He decided to wait for her response before he sat down.

Jackie hadn't even heard anyone come into the gathering hall, because she was so indepth into her book. And when she read sometimes she just got so caught up in the book that she just blocked out the world around her. Until the shaggy haired boy standing before her brought her back to reality. Yeah, go ahead- you can sit there. Jackie answered as she glanced from the boy to the spot on the other end of the couch.
She picked her bookmark up off the arm of the couch and stuck it in her book, she looked up once more as the boy said that he'd read 'Riding Lessons' at his old school. She gave a small smile and responded with; Yeah, its a really good book- I like it alot so far. She set her book down on the small table in front of the couch and reach her hand out to the boy and said; by the way, I'm Jackie. She was glad that she was already beginning to meet new people and make friends here at canterbury. Especially Cole- she had a great time with him the other day out riding; and he had a great sense of humor too.

Nice to meet you Jackie. I'm Levi.Levi said as he took a seat by Jackie on the couch. Levi didnt know anyone yet so he was happy to meeting some new people. Levi smiled at her as he adjusted the pillows that were on the pillow. He pulled it over and set his arm on top of it. He grabbed his homework and put it on the floor. He didnt need to do it right now. He looked over at Jackie and smiled.
Do you like to ride horses? Levi asked her. He loved to ride horses but he hasnt been able to ride since he had requested for Gold. He was hoping to try him over some jumps sometime soon. He didnt know what type of events she did or anything like that. He didnt need to ask right now. He was just going to see if she liked to ride. He brought up his feet and set it on the little coffee table that was sitting right next to him. He inspected his black basketball shoes. He turned toward her and waited for her to answer.

It's nice to meet you too, she said with a small smile after he introduced himself as Levi. See it was already easy for Jackie to get along with people here, because the only two people she'd met so far were both guys. It always been easier for her to get along with guys because of her three older brothers. But with the girls and how much drama they caused it was always a more difficult task with them- she always seemed to bring out her tough more stubborn and defensive side when she was around girls.
Jackie set her book on the coffee table in front of them and turned her self and tucked her green slippered feet under her as she turned to more to face Levi. When he asked her if she liked to ride horses, she couldn't help but smile. Horses were her favorite topic, and riding was her passion. Absolutely, she said with a small smile still stuck on her face. I've pretty much been around horses since I could walk, and I've bene riding since I was six, she told him. It was always easier to open up about riding because it was something that she was extremely passionate about. How bout you, do you ride? He didn't exactly look like the horseback riding type of guy, but hey this was an academy full of horse loving people- so anyone here could ride.

Levi smiled when she said she rode. I love riding horses! Levi started. He smiled again. I have been riding since I was a little boy. I love riding but I like to play sports. Levi said. He knew he wasnt a "cowboy" type of guy and that he liked to dress athletic. He tried to dress more of a horse-back rider but he didnt exactly know how they dressed. He turned more toward Jackie with a smile on his face. He liked how he got along with her so well and how they just started talking about something they both love when they just met.Maybe we could go ride together sometime. Levi said looking at her. He thought a nice trail ride sounded nice.
Do you compepte? Levi asked curiously. He did show jumping and dressage. He wondered if she did something else or the same things. He thought about his last competition. He knew it was his last so he tried to make it fun but it was hard to leave the horse that he loved. He had to sell his horse and after that show the owner was there to get him. He almost didnt want to look at another horse for awhile but soon found one that would replace it. He had been to the stables to visit Gold but he couldnt wait to get on top of him. He was a stallion that was the gentlest he had ever seen. He was super nice.

A small smile rested on Jackie's face as Levi explained a little bit of his past with horseback riding and how he rides but he also like other sports too; just like her closest brother Jacob- who was coming to Canterbury too. He loved to ride but he also had a passion for playing football too. She heard Levi say that maybe they could go riding together sometime, she smiled slightly and said, yeah. When Levi asked Jackie she competed in riding too, a smile swept across her face as all her memories of childhood competitions at local horse shows- and always beating her brothers at it. Horseback riding was one thing she was better at than they were. She nodded and said, Yeah, I compete; I've been riding in Hunter/Jumper shows for a good portion of my riding career. What about you? she then asked him- keeping the conversation going about horses, something they obviously bothed loved.

Levi smiled as he listened to what she was saying. I just and do jumping and dressage. Levi said to Jackie. He loved jumping espicially when you could tell the horse was putting all his heart into it. Levi smiled. He knew he could go on for ages talking about horses. The conversation would never get old. Your events sound fun. I've never tried hunters but it sounds fun. Levi said mentioning her events. Levi turned more toward Jackie so that he was facing her. He set his feet underneath himself on the couch.
What horse do you ride here? Levi asked her. He wondered if she had requested for a horse here yet or not. Levi was happy when he was given permission to ride the horse Gold. He hadnt had time yet but couldnt wait. Hopefully when they went on a trail ride Gold would be good for him. Levi waited for her to reply as he looked at her.

Jackie gave a smile in his direction when he talked about that he did jumping too. The teen always thought that jumping horses was the most magical thing that you could do. You're one with the horse, and you truly are flying without wings. Jackie also liked the idea that he rode Dressage too- that also was quite a breath taking event to watch in the horse world, the precision and grace top dressage riders have is just amazing to watch. Dressage looks like so much fun, but I'm sure it's a lot of hard work too, Jackie said to him, keeping eye contact with him as their conversation on equines continuted.
When Levi then asked her about the horse she rode her, there was a slight twinkle in her eyes. Jackie had only ridden Tequila once- but from what the description of the mare states- her being stubborn and somewhat mean. Not a chance at least not yet- Tequila was a dream to ride and she listened really well. I ride Hard Liquor- otherwise known as Tequila- she's a big Thoroughbred mare. I've only ridden her once so far, but I love her so far, Jackie told him with a smile. And who do you ride? She asked him, shooting the same question back.

Levi didnt look away since they started talking about horses. He kept eye contact and a smile on his face that never left. Dont you think jumping is amazing? Levi asked. Maybe it was just him that thought jumping was an amazing feeling almost like you were flying but then again she could think the same thing too. He enjoyed jumping and doubted that he would ever quit it. Yea dressage is hard work at sometime trying to make your horse do something they dont want to do. Levi said. He was referring to a spunky horse he used to ride that never wanted to do anything. He smiled at the thought.
I got assigned a stallion named Fool's Gold but his barn name is Gold. Levi said. He had only gone to visit him a couple of times. He was a gentle stallion and the most behaved stallion he had ever seen. Sure he had his flaws but thats what made him perfect. I havent ridden him yet but I sure hope to soon. Levi said mentioning the thought of riding him. He couldnt wait to find out what Gold was like. He figured it would be like flying except all the time. Levi looked into Jackie's eyes his own blue eyes glittering with excitment as he thought about Gold. He was chestnut with two front white stockings and a little sock on his hind leg. His mane was cut short and he had white running down his face. He was all muscles and power but used it fo his own good.

As Levi mentioned if she thought jumping was amazing, her mind drifted off to being able to fly again. Anytime she was riding and jumping she was one with the horse, and it was just such a magical moment. Jackie then opened her mouth to speak about what she loved about jumping so much; Yeah, It's amazing. I remember as a little girl seeing other expierianced riders, riding- and jumping their horses 3'3- 3'6 ish; I thought it was the coolest thing ever, and now that I'm actually there, and can have the same feelings they did- with such awe and amazement to how it feels to jump, I love it. You just feel like your one with your horse. Jackie smiled, she has never really openly spilled her feelings for riding to anyone- it has always been she's mainly just kept things to herself, and bottled up inside.
Jackie loved that they were able to talk about horses so much, but she wanted to get to know him a little more. So she kept the conversation going but changed the subject and asked him, So what grade are you in?

Levi smiled lightly. He knew exactly what she was talking about. He felt the exact same way. I know! I used to be my parents into taking me to shows to watch the jumpers. I thought it was amazing at how high they could jump. But yea now I'm there and I bet there are other little kids thinking the same thing! Levi said. Levi smiled again thinking of jumping. He got a rush of adrenaline every time he thought about it. It almost made him want to go out and jump right then.
I'm a sophomore. Levi said to her. What about you? Levi asked her. He didnt know if she was older then him. He wanted to know more about her. He looked at her and waited for her to reply. He could hear his heart beat as it pounded. He was smiling at her and looking right into her eyes. He was glad that they could talk about horses and feel the exact same. Plus they both did jumping. It seemed like they had quite a bit in common. He couldnt wait to learn more about her.

She listened to Levi as he explained he expierianced the same emotions for jumping when he first learned to ride too. The feeling was just indescribible. Jumpers have always fascinated me too, she said with a smile, Jumpers had extrordinary talent that she dreamed of being able to do one day. She played with a loose string on the side of her furry lime green slipper before reverting her eye contact back to Levi. When he said he was a sophomore, she smiled. Then he asked 'what about you?', she gave another light smile and replied with I'm a sophomore too.
Levi sort of had the apperance of being not so much a horseback rider but more of an athletic sport guy, so she wondered what other sports he played; so she asked- So, what other sports do you play? She asked him knowing he'd probably love a conversation about sports too, just as much as they did about horseback riding.

Levi smiled. Yea, now I look up to the pro's instead of local events. Levi laughed. Awesome. So we should have some classes together. Levi said. He was glad cause then he would know someone that he could talk to. He wanted to know what she was into beside horseback riding. She probably had a lot of other things that she enjoyed doing. He wanted to know what else she did to see if the had more in common.
Haha ya I like to play sports. I play basketball mainly but during the off season of that I play football and baseball. Do you play sports? Or what do you do other then horseback riding? He asked her trying to bring in her interests. Levi got into sports when he couldnt go to the stable to ride. It all started when his father put up a basketball hoop and he just started to go shoot hoops a little everday after school. Then he tried out for the sports team and got a spot. He liked it but he loved horseback riding. He just liked to be in shape.

Yeah, maybe we will. She said in response to his thinking that they might have some classes together, she was glad that she might have found someone she'd know in at least a few of her classes.
Jackie had a smile on her face the whole conversation, and listened closely as he talked about the other sports he was interested in like baseball, football and basketball. When he asked her if she played any other sports besides horseback riding she smiled more and responded with- I don't play anything competiviely but I've played about everything; from soccer to football, baseball you name it; I've got three older brothers so I've played around with alot of sports with them, she told him. She thought of her family back home, and instantly felt a ping of homesickness; but she'd be alright- she'd pull through. She did miss her brothers a bit though and rough housing with them like she used to.
So do you have any siblings? she asked him; being that she'd told him about her three older, crazy sports obsessed brothers back home.
