The girl wandered the halls of the school. Today was one of those off, quiet days when there was nothing to do. She hated those days. It gave her time to dwell on home, because there had never been any of those days at the ranch. There was always something to be done. Or one could at least find something to do. But a person never just wandered aimlessly around with no particular purpose or destinatoin in mind.
And today, she was particularly homesick. She missed the mountains. And the horses. And the pine trees. Today was one of those days where she just missed everything about it! Canterbury was nothing like home, and Delany couldn't quite decide if it was a blessing or a curse. One the one hand, there was nothing to remind her of home, but on the other hand, there was nothing to make her feel more at home, either. She heaved a sigh. It was really a 6 of one, half a dozen of the other situation.
She found that her feet had carried her into the gathering hall, so she wandered in and flopped down on a couch in front of the TV, although it wasn't on, and just lay there, rather listlessly, not quite sure what to do with herself.

Levi walked into the gathering hall of Canterbury. He was doing nothing really just wondering where everyone was. Levi's basketball shoes lead him the way toward the couch. He reached the edge and saw Delany sitting there. Heyy, long time now see! Levi said. He noticed that she looked kinda sad. Whats the matter? He asked her. He walked to the front of the couch and sat down on the edge of the couch. He wanted to know what was wrong with her but he didnt want her to tell him unless she wanted to. He thought about what could be the matter but nothing came to mind.

She glanced up and a broad smile lit her face upon Levi's entry. She laughed a bit as she sat up. Oh, just too much time on my hands she responded. Thinking about home she shrugged a bit, as if it were nothing, and shifted restlessly. That was one thing she absolutely despised about Canterbury. She ended up with waaay too much free time on her hands, time she never owuld have had at home. She wasn't used to having time to spare, and it made her feel restless, homesick. Delany was one of those people who had a hard time just sitting down and relaxing. The word wasn't hardly in her vocabulary.

Levi looked into her eyes. Is everything all right? Levi asked her with worry in his voice. He didnt like to see her like that. He tried to think of something to tell her but he had nothing. Umm do you know who Stephanie Billak is? Levi asked, he continued before she could answer. Well I was walking by the outdoor arena and I saw a horse standing there without a rider. I looked on the ground and there was a girl. She broke her leg! I had to help her because there was no one around to help her. Levi finished. He took ahold of her hand and looked into her eyes. He was trying to think of stuff to keep her mind to heading back to her home.

She wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him closer, resting her head on his shoulder. Can't say I know her she responded, and listened to him relay the story. Aw, bad luck! she exclaimed sympathetically. I fell off the porch once and broke my ankle she said with a slight laugh. I felt retarded. And it was right in th emiddle of rodeo season. It was awful, because the rest of my family was off rodeoing and I was stuck in the grandstands. She smiled a bit at the memory and tipped her head back to glance at Levi. Ever broken any bones? she asked. She shifted, still feeling a little restless.

Levi gave in and slid down into the actually couch. He put his arm over Delany's shounder and held on to her other hand. That would have to suck sitting there watching while you couldnt be out there. And, falling off a porch would have had to hurt. Levi said to her. He hated having to watch from the sidelines no matter what the sport or activity. He's only had to do it once in basketball and riding but thats cuase he broke his arm. Yea a couple of years ago I broke my arm. I sat my time out but it was hard. Levi said. He squeezed Delany's hand lightly he probably broke some fingers but that never stopped him from keep doing things.
He wondered what his family was doing right now thinking of his sisters who would probably love Delany. He could see his two younger sisters wanting to show them their rooms which was jammed with horse stuff and wanting to show them their ponies. He shook the thought from his head. He didnt really want to think about his sisters right now. He turned all his focus to the room that he was in and he wasnt thinking about that past.

Aw, bad luck she repeated, sympathetically. Broken bones pretty much sucked. She heaved a sigh, her head still relsting against Levi's shoulder. For once, she wasn't sure what to say. Probably the first time in recorded history that Delany Sanders didn't have anything to say! But it was also probably the first time she hadn't felt a need to fill the silence. She heaved a comfortable sigh.
She missed her own home immensely, especially since it would be changed by the time she made it back. Smaller. Different. She heaved a sigh, dragging her thoughts away from her home. Now wasn't the time to be thinking about that. Oh, guess what! she exclaimed, pulling herself out of her rather sleepy sta te. Without waiting for a response, she plunged right in. My gelding from back home's coming up here A big grin spread across her face. My paint, Electric Current She smiled, obviously pleased about this. Who wouldn't be? Sure, Fudge was great, but she sure as shootin' didn't beat Tric, especially since Fudge was an English horse...

Levi smiled when she mentioned that her horse would be coming to Canterbury. Thats awesome! I cant wait to see this guy. You better show me what you guys can do. Levi said smiling. Levi wished his horse could come to Canterbury but his parents would probably have something to say about it not coming there. They were always concerned about the prices and then there was the chance of the horse always getting hurt on the way over. Levi knew it was a chance you had to take. Levi squeezed Delany's hand. He was excited for her that her horse got to come.
My parents would never let me ship my horse here. Plus I dont think Canterbury would let me bring my horse here...dont they have a no stallion policy? Levi asked. His horse was a stallion and he had heard Canterbury wouldnt allow stallions. He would stick with his school horse and work with it for a while. Maybe he could learn more about this horse and learn its technique (sp??).

She laughed a bit, smiling. She returned the squeeze he gave to her hand, her head still resting against his shoulder. Yeah, I think they do. Which personally I think is really lame, because some stallions are like, better behaved than mares. And my gelding still acts exactly like he's a stallion, so what difference does it make? She laughed a bit. I suppose in case they get out and blah blah. Liability would probably be huge She shrugged it off. But that stinks. Would you even consider gelding him? she asked. Tric had come as a gelding, though she wished he hadn't. If the threw his colors to his babies, they would basically be the most goregeous things on the earth. It would have to be to an extremely quiet mare, though, she thought to herself. She glanced up at Levi. So what's his name? she asked, obviously referring to his stallion.

OCC: I would have had this reply up but my computer quit on me right before I could finish the last sentence =[
Levi smiled slightly His name is Flash of Light. Levi said. It was the name that was on his registered papers. They normally just called him Flash. Levi wished he could have named him himself but he was used to his name already. He was a thoroughbred and was pretty fast but didnt do well on the track. So his owners sold them and Levi's family was lucky enough to get him for a good price. My parents dont want him to be gelded because he has such a good temper and plus his babies would probably have some speed and stuff like that. Levi said. His parents knew nothing about race horses because all they had were cattle horses. Levi had gotten Flash when he wanted to learn to jump and do english stuff.
Let me know when your horse gets here. Levi said. He was excited for her to have her horse here. Levi looked down at Delany and he smiled again. He remebered riding with Delany at the beach which was fun. He thought about how he hadnt really rode lately because of all this school work. He wanted to jump a little higher then he already was jumping. Plus, I havent rode in a western saddle since i was little...so you'll have to help me out sometime. Levi said smiling.

She smiled. Flash of Light. She rather liked it, herself. It sounded fitting, although she wouldn't really know, since she'd never seen him before.
She tipped her head back to look up at Levi. Yeah. He sounds like a pretty good horse. She smirked when he told her she'd have to remind him how Western went. Tric doesn't really let you forget she responded. If you screw anything up, even something small, you know about it She smirked. I can't tell you how many times that horse piled me when I First got him. Dad was readdy to can him, but I wouldn't let him. Everyone's decided that Tric's trained me, rather than the other way around She grinned. It was true. She'd been black and blue for weeks after riding Tric. He'd thrown her, trampled her, squished her. He was certainly a character. She shook her head slightly. She'd be glad to have him back, though. He needed a job. I think he's arriving today sometime, though she added, trying to calculate...Yes, it must have been about a week since she'd gotten the call.

Levi smiled as she descirbed her horse. Sounds like you have to be pretty good at western then. I cant wait to see you ride. He said looking down at her. He smiled. He wondered what his horse was doing this exact moment. Canterbury probably wouldnt want Flash at their stables even if he was gelded. He was pretty energetic and full of spunk. He was sorta picky too but thats why Levi loved him. Levi shook his head from his thoughs and just smiled. He looked around and noticed how quiet it was. Levi looked down at Delany again. So we should ride when your horse gets here. It will be a lot of fun. He said smiling.
