Tanis walked the streets with her Converse shoes trudgeing on the worn out sidewalks. Her eyes shifted from left to right as she looked for someplace fun to be. Her Roxy bookback hung from her shoulder. It was pink with a cute design on it. It held her pink dell laptop. Tanis loved pink and it was one of her many favorite colors. Tanis liked bright colors but dark colors were cool too. Tanis looked up to see a coffee shop that was a few feet in front of her. Tanis slightly tripped but regained her balance. She was sorta a klutz when it came to walking. She played it off with a big smile showing her straight white teeth.
Tanis reached the coffee store and slowly pushed the door open. The air peirced her nose as she walked inside with coffee. She took a deep breath because she loved the smell. She remebered back home with her friends they would always go to the coffee store to just hang out. The employee's even knew them by name and would bring them their drinks that they always ordered. Tanis walked up to the counter and looked up at the menu. Hi, I would like to order a tall double chocolate chip frapachino. Tanis said to the lady taking orders. Tanis dug into her jean pockets and snatched some money. She handed to the lady and the lady handed her the drink. Tanis took the drink and walked to the empty chair.
There were three comfy green chairs sitting there. The other two were empty. She set her drink on the table that was sitting by the chair. She slid the bag off her shoulder. It slightly messed up her blonde hair but she quickly fixed it with her fingers. Tanis picked up her drink and took a big sip of her frapachino. Her eyes were searching the shop. She didnt know anyone. She sat there waiting to see if she could find someone she knew or someone she could meet.

When Stephanie spotted the sign for the coffee shop around the corner, she knew exactly what she wanted. A fat-free hazelnut latte. Her favorite drink. She knew that the cafe carried them, since she went there just about every day to do homework and check her email with the free wi-fi connection there. Stephanie got into the line and checked out the menu to see if there was anything else she would want to get there. A muffin, maybe. Or a scone. Nope, not today.
As she stretched to look at the classic chalkboard that held the menu, she noticed a lean, athletic-looking girl sitting in a big green chair by the fireplace. "Hmmm...That girl over there looks kind of lonely. I should go over there and intoduce myself," Stephanie thought. As she was leaning to catch a better glimpse of the girl, her laptop slid off her shoulder and almost took a topple to the floor. "Crap," she said to herself. Her parents would kill her if she broke her laptop. It cost nearly seven hundred dollars, and it came out of their pockets, not hers. She carefully made sure that it was safely in its case before she dug her money out of her purse and ordered. She thanked the lady at the counter as the lady exchanged Stephanie's cash for the latte.
Stephanie looked back at the green chairs to see if there was any place for her to sit. The girl was still there, so that was a good sign. The two chairs near the girl were both empty, so she hurried to the one nearest to the girl and plopped down. The girl didn't seem to notice, so Stephanie took the incentive. "Hi, I'm Stephanie. I saw you here alone and was wondering if you wanted to hang out." Stephanie was always outgoing, so she hoped that she didn't embarass the girl by her regular personality.

Tanis watched all the activity going on in the cafe. She saw many different people of all ages. She saw a girl that walked in that looked her age. She watched her order her coffee and noticed that the girl almost dropped her laptop. Tanis stiffened up to see what would happen. She managed to keep it with her. Tanis took her own laptop and placed it comfortably on her lap. She booted it up. Tanis looked up to see the girl walking over toward her. She said her name was Stephanie. She may have seen her walking around the campus of Canterbury but Tanis couldnt be sure.
Hey, I'm Tanis. Ya sure, that would be fun to hang out. Tanis said to her. Stephanie seemed nice. Tanis smiled and looked at her laptop. Nice laptop. Umm, do you go to Canterbury? Tanis said. She had just recently moved to Canterbury. She didnt really want to go but it was time for a change. After her parents wreck and her two sisters who were taking up a lot of time back at their own farm she just had to get away. Tanis's laptop suddenly appeared with her desktop. It was a picture of her and her sisters with horses. Ginny her five year old sister was on her pony Brownie and Tanis and her two year sister were sitting on Willow that Tanis had practically rescued.
The six year old mare was brought to their farm to be trained. Everything was fine at the farm until they sent her back to the old owners. They beat her and treated her badly so Tanis tryed hard to get her back. Paying with her own college money to purchase the horse so that she was hers. When Tanis finally got her it took a lot of work to bring her back to herself. She is still selective with who she rides and who's around or in her stall. Tanis even got her in competing shape and they go to different shows. Do you have a horse? Tanis asked curiously. She didnt know what she would do if she didnt have Willow.

The girl seemed pretty comfortable with Stephanie's approach. She introduced herself as Tanis. As the girl booted up her laptop, Stephanie got a glimpse of the picture on the desktop. She could see the girl and two other girls on horses. Wow, those horses are beautiful, Stephanie thought. The girl's question brought her out of her deep thought about her own Ireland, the one she had to leave behind. Oh, thanks. Yeah, I go to canter. How 'bout you? Stephanie asked.
She took a sip of her latte and decided to boot her own computer up. Her desktop was of her beautiful Gypsy Vanner stallion, Ireland. She was so upset when she couldn't bring him along, but she decided that it was all for the best. When she got back home, she would have more expertise in the field of jumping. She couldn't wait for break to come so she could visit her baby. Yeah, I have a horse. His name's Ireland. He's a Gypsy Vanner. He's not here with me, unfortunately, so I ride Sweet Home Alabama, one of the school horses. Do you ride a school horse or is your horse here with you? Stephanie really wanted to know. Maybe this was girl could be her new best friend!

Tanis smiled. She nodded as the girl talked about her horse. Thanks. Ya thats me and my sisters. Tanis said about her desktop. She missed her sisters a lot and hoped they were having fun at the breeding and training farm that her parents owned. Tanis looked over at Stephanie's desktop background and saw a large horse. Now thats one pretty horse! Tanis said. She wished that she could ride a Gypsy Vanner. One had got sent to their farm to be trained and Tanis wanted to be the one to train it but that was about the time when Willow showed up.
At the Howard farm Tanis would help her parents "break" horses and train the foals to be led and all the necessities. They would all gather in the barn office and discuss what horses they would train. Tanis helped with all her parents work because she was interested in it. Yea I got to Canterbury. I'm a freshman. Are you from around here or did you travel a long way? Tanis asked. When she was first meeting a person she had a bunch of questions for them so that she could get to know them. Tanis smiled at the girl. She didnt get to have a fun traveling expeirence as some people did. Tanis was born and raised in California and only left for family vacations or on their family business trips. Thats the reason Willow got to come with her.
My horse got to come with me. If I would have left her home she would have been freaked out...she doesnt trust to many people. Tanis said. She could imagine leaving Willow back at the family farm. The grooms would go to give her, her daily brushing but instead she would bite or hide from them. That all had to do with her past, but Tanis was slowly trying to break that. So far she has got only the people that work at their farm and her family for Willow to trust. Tanis turned her attention back to Stephanie.

Yah, that's my Ireland! Stephanie confirmed. I don't have him here yet, but I plan to bring him in over break. I can't wait till I see him again. Right now, my sister Leigha's taking care of him on top of her horse, Tucker. He's a paint quarter horse. Stephanie's mind wandered to the small farm where her family was. Ireland and Tucker were the only two horses there, but they were enough to make the family satisfied. Her family also raised cattle to sell later. Tucker was actually her horse, but when she got Ireland, she gave her precious paint to her sister because she really didn't need two horses.
Another sip of Stephanie's latte went running down her throat. That felt really good. I'm a sophomore there. I came from Arkansas, which is at least 2,000 miles away. But that's the miracle of airplanes, right?Stephanie joked. She was planning on bringing Ireland by plane just like her friend did with her pony when she moved from Arkansas to Colorado. When Stephanie emailed Tara a few days after the trip, and she said that Pokey did really well.
Hey, this is really random, but do you write? Stephanie asked. She was really desperate to find another writer that she could connect with because so far, she didn't really have anything in common with anyone except for horses.

Ireland...thats a cute name. Tanis said. Tanis smiled and looked down at her desktop and clicked open her internet and looked at her home page. Oh thats cool! I didnt get a fun traveling expeirence here. I live an hour from here in California. Tanis said. Tanis was glad that she lived in California cause she enjoyed everything about it from her friends to her family witch also lived in California. Tanis wondered what it would have been like if she were coming from another state. I'm a freshman here. Tanis said.
Yah, I write and I love taking pictures and drawing. Tanis said. Do you like to write? Tanis asked. She loved writing stories the best mainly about horses. She wrote about other things too but horses were her main interests. She had lots of notebooks filled with stuff she had written from poems to stories. Tanis smiled at her and was interested to hear what Stephanie liked to do. Tanis picked up her drink and took a sip out of it and then placed it back down on the small table that was sitting between the chairs.

Finally, someone that actually shares my interests! Stephanie thought. She loved to write short stories and was currently working on her first novel. Sweet! I'm attempting to write my first novel, but I'm in the middle of a writer's block right now. I love taking pics, too. I have a darkroom at my house. Stephanie was so happy that she had met a fellow writer and photographer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ooc. More later. Got to get off. And, I won't be on until the twentieth or so cuz I'm on vacay. So don't be surprised if I don't add to this for a while.

Tanis looked at Stephanie and smiled. They had a lot of things in common. Wow, thats really cool. Tanis said smiling. She remembered her notebook that was full of stories that she hadnt really finished. The one she did finish were in her orange binder. Her parents had bought her a new camera before she left. Tanis liked to take pictures of scenery or at the beach. Just things that would turn into a good picture. Horses were another thing she loved taking pictures of. Her parents sometimes got a little bored of horse pictures but Tanis loved them. Yea, I have a lot of unfinished stories. Tanis said smiling.

Stephanie could tell that the girl was enjoying herself. Thanks. My parents think that riding and writing is a waste of time, but they obviously don't understand me. I hate them. I draw, too. Which is another waste of time to them...Her voice trailed off. Her parents weren't the best, but they knew how to take care of her and everything. Hopefully Tanis knew that she was exagerating when she said that she hated her parents. Omigosh...My Ireland's coming soon! I can't wait! She could see herself jumping him both in the arena and on the cross-country course.Hey, maybe we could go trail riding together or something when he comes! That would be so fun! She sipped her latte. All she could think about right now was Ireland.

Tanis smiled. This girl had everything in common with her. Yea sometimes my parents tell me I need to learn about other stuff besides just drawing...plus they dont get to happy when they see my tests from school have drawings all over them. Tanis said laughing slightly. When Stephanie mentioned that her horse was coming she looked at her excited. Thats really cool! Tanis said. She hadnt really rode her horse since she had gotten here. She wanted to make sure that Willow was all settled in. She couldnt wait to have Willow out and jumping. That would be lots of fun! Tanis said. She wanted to make sure to bring her camera on the trail ride. She would be sure to get some awesome pictures. Maybe even some jumping on the trails would be fun.
Tanis looked at Stephanie and smiled. She got along great with her. It felt as if Tanis had known Stephanie for a long time, but she didnt. She hardly had this much in common with her friends back at home. They were all into other things and more concerned with how to get famous then deal with their friends. Her friends at the stable she went to sometime were to rich and stuck up who didnt care about their horses only for the prizes. Tanis shook her head glad that she hadnt met anyone like that so far.

Stephanie took a few more sips of her latte and grimaced. Blech! It had become cold. She stood up and walked over to the trash can. She lifted up the cap as she slowly dumped the liquid inside into the can. She saw all the creamer she put into the drink and made up a solemn promise. I will never drink a latte from here again. And I won't use creamer ever again, either! she laughed as she sat down. Oh, man! Am I glad that I met you! You're like, my first friend here! Truthfully, Stephanie was glad that she had met Tanis. Stephanie wondered if she would meet more friendly people like Tanis. She hoped that she would, but she was certain that she wouldn't meet one that she shared so much in common with. [/font][/blockquote] Ooc. I think that we should stop the thread...cuz I started one with Levi that has Stephanie breaking her leg, so I can't really do two at the same time. Soooo confusing. ...Tell me what ur answer is! Thanks! Plus, we're already roommates, so...
