It started off small. Just three bands who were getting tired of all the publicity and commercialization of touring. With all the stereotypes, and trying to be cool, fans were losing sight of the real reason for all this. So three bands set out to bring people back to the heart of the music. Throughout the month of October, they toured the east coast, playing a series of small shows in tiny clubs with minimal advertising, trusting that the news would get around to all the right people. And it did. To the true fans, the ones there for the music, not the popularity. It was such a success, it couldn't end there, now could it?
Of course, the tour has changed quite a bit since then, going into its seventh year. It went from being a one month tour through a small section of the US to a year long international event featuring eight of the hottest bands. The venues are still small and the name is the same, but it is no secret these days. No, the October Underground Tour is the place to be. If you can get tickets, that is.
But what about behind the scenes? What's it like to be in one of the eight bands chosen this year? Well, if you've been invited on this tour, you must be pretty good. But it's not all fun and games. There will be love, hate, parties, screaming fans, and all the other stuff that comes with a tour like this. You will have to endure twelve months of non-stop traveling and performing. Hundreds of interviews, signings, and fan meet-and-greets. It will be one of the most stressful years of your life. But also one of the best.
Eight bands. Seven continents. One year. Welcome to the October Underground Tour. Are you ready?
