Ariving that the barn today, Andrew had different plans in mind than to work with Romeo. Of course they were going to ride, but Andrew wanted to give Romeo a break off their workouts and try something new. Andrew hadn't been on the trails yet and he was sure that Romeo hadn't been either. It would be interesting to see how he would behave and react on the trails. Andrew easily went to Romeo's stall right away. Smiling as he greeted the 4 year old, he stroked his neck lovingly. Happy to see me bud? was said softly. Romoe nickedered softly as he nibbled Andrew's shirt playfully. Walking away, Andrew went to the tack room, grabbing all of Romeo's tack and some boots just in case. Brining them back to his stall, he put down the saddle rack to set the saddle on while he groomed Romeo. Andrew laughed as Romeo almost jumped out of his stall. He was always eager to get out. Patting his neck, he put him up on the cross ties for a good grooming.
Once Romeo was tacked up fully, they were ready to go. Putting his helmet on, Andrew took off Romeo's halter, hanging it ont the hook of his stall and led him out of the barn. Easily mounting up, he gave Romeo a pat as the gelding snorted. Gathering the reins, he pushed Romeo into a steady walk, and off they were onto the trails. It really was a nice day out and there was a slight breeze as they went through the trails. After walking for a bit, Andrew asked Romeo for a trot. Bobbing his head, he eagerly went intot he two beat gait. Andrew could most certainly tell Romeo was very curious with the new surroundings. He was very alert and would constantly turn his head to look if there was some type of noise coming fromt that direction.
After what it seemed like a good while and they had gone in somewhat deep into the trail, Andrew eased Romeo down into a walk. He could hear a small river near by and finally spotted it. Deciding to rest there for a bit, Andrew dismounted, praising Romeo for being such a good boy. Andrew really expected him to be a lot more spooky but so far so good. Grabbing the reins, Andrew lead Romeo over to the stream to see if he wanted a drink. Romeo was a bit hesitant at first, but eventually settled down and took a quick sip. There ya go, see it's just water. Can't hurt you he said with a laugh as Romeo looked at him with this expression saying tha is the most scarriest thing ever. Rubbing his head, Andrew leaned against the tree. He wasn't really thinking or anything, just relaxing reallly. All of a sudden, Romeo let out a loud shriek of a neigh, reared up and the reins slipped out of Andrew's hands. Shit he said trying to grab Romeo but wasn't quick enough. As Andrew looked around to see what had spooked him, he frowned seeing a deer hopping away near by. Horses. So much for Romeo not being stupid. Now the question was to get Romeo, and where. The gelding had already bolted off. This was not good.
