Oh goodness, I've done pretty much everything at fantasy. I'm terrible with that.
Been role playing for an insanely long time..I'd like to say..3 or 4 years, maybe more? I'm not sure exactly. In more recent times, I've done basically all people stuff, especially horse/human rpgs, but in the past I've done horse rpgs, too.

The young girl entered the arena with a lunge line and lunge whip in hand. Her hair was clipped back in one of those big clip things, and her attire was simple. Tan breeches over long johns against the chill, and a hoodie worn over a tee shirt. Riding gloves were on her hands, although they didn't do much against the below freezing temperatures, but it wasn't too cold inside the indoor. It was well insulated against the chill, and was actually quite pleasant.
The big gray mare that followed behind her was extremely high strung. The reins were held close under the actually rather massive mare's chin, and she pranced and danced and through her head, receiving a jerk to the reins from her petite rider. "Knock it off, Mysty," Raquel murmured, too quiet to actually snap at anything. The mare only threw her head higher. "Knock it off," she repeated, this time with more venom in her words.
The mare gazed, almost hurt, at the small girl. Raquel shook her head a bit. "I am never gonna have you ready for auction by the time Marie wants you to be.." She shook her head in aggravation.
She clipped the lungeline to the mare's bit, making sure the reins were securely over the mare's neck where they wouldn't fall, and, with lunge whip in hand, she sent the mare out. Mysty kicked out toward her rider viciously, and received a smarting rap on the hind quarters in re turn. Raquel may have been small and mousy, but she certainly didn't take any crap.
After a time, she brought hte mare in, leaing the lunge stuff in a corner where it wouldn't get in the way. She pulled her stirrups down and swung herself aboard, going against the rules and not wearing a helmet. She hadn't even had time to get her stirrups before the mare took off. She yanked on the reins, one reining the mare to a stop until her nose touched Raquel's hip, doing the same on the other side. She repeated this several more times until the mare bent willingly to the bit, then cautiously leaned down to slip the toes of her boots in the stirrup, still eying the mare suspiciously.
She sat up, her heels down, her seat good, and clucked the mare forward, her hands soft but keeping a firm contact on the mare's mouth to let her know she wouldn't put up with any crap. Her entire posture and body language was aware and ready for anything. She was used to the mare's antics, by now, but she knew other people wouldn't put up with it, and she wanted the mare soft and well trained, not impish and green as she was now. A bad horse to her training reputation just wouldn't do, now would it?

Sienna Marie Michaels -- 33 -- [Mother]
Marie Rose Michaels -- 69 -- [Grandmother]
David Samuel Michales -- 71 -- [Grandfather]
physical appearance: [at least three paragraphs. tell us how they look. no perfect people. everyone has some flaws.]
Mackenzie keeps her hair cut about shoulder length, although the style changes quite frequently. Her hair color goes back and forth between black and blonde, but as a general rule, it's blonde. Her overall complexion is rather pale, but she works outside enough that she stays quite tan. She has high, rosy cheeks and her smile is really quite amazing. Thanks to braces, her teeth are near perfect.
She has huge, dark blue eyes set ina thin, oval face, with a small, kind of weirdly sloped button nose, but it fits her well, and thin pale lips. All of these features go together to look rather stormy and intimidating, so she's learned to smile a lot to look more open and friendly. She can really look quite frightening when she's angry. Her eyebrows are high and carefully waxed, and very expressive. She lifts them up a lot when she's surprised about something, so you can always tell when she's shocked.
Bodilly, she's short, standing only five feet tall, and skinny. Some might say over skinny, and she's been accused of being anorexic and/or bulimic before, but she isn't she promises! SHe just doesn't have a big appetite. She has rather long arms and legs that are a little dis-perportionate, but she uses them well. She has tiny feet (size 5 shoe) and long, pale hands.
clothing style: [at least one paragraph. how do they dress?]
Kenzie can swing both ways. She can be really crazy and off the wall or normal and you wouldn't think anything of it.
Around the barn, she's pretty average. Jeans and paddock boots, or breeches when she's riding, and usually an older teeshirt.
On normal days, she's pretty normal. Flare, low rise jeans, cute shoes (she's a big fan of those slipper-like flats) and slim fitting, often low-cut shirts. Tank tops are a favorite, especially in summer, and, in winter, she just throws a hoodie over. Hoodies are another staple to her wardrobe, and she wears one, or at least has one on hand, every day.
Then there are those occasional days when she goes out on a limb and can be quite crazy. This happens a lot more often when her hair is dyed black than when she's gone blonde, but she pulls off the look quite well. Nets are a favorite, as well as baggy cargo pants. Canvas hightops are worn a lot, and dark hoodies.
Basically, you never know what you're gonna get, except around the barn...

Mackenzie is very much a sweetheart, won't be mean to anybody right off the bat, no matter what she's heard. She likes to give everyone a fair chance...Or at least, she tries. She's actually quite easilly biased by talk, because she figures, hey, rumors usually start from fact, right? She's very solemn and down to earth, but can be pretty outrageous, too. Pretty much just depends on the mood...
She's a really good friend. Once a friend, always a friend, and she's always got your back, no matter what. She's an awesome secret keeper. She's never told a secret...Well, except for that once in second grade, but hey, she was little then! She's a good listener, if that's what you need, but you better not be too dramatic ab out anything, because she wastes no time on people who whine or over react to everything.
She has a pretty short fuse, so don't mess with her. If she can be a great friend, she can be a terrible enemy. Once you've pissed her off or thrown away her trust, you're not likely to get it back, and you're not likely to ever hear a civil word from her again, either. Her temper is an angry thing that most people don't like to deal with...But as long as you stay on her good side, you won't have to...
history: [at least four paragraphs. tell us everything]
Kenzie was raised by her mother and grandparents. Her dad walked out before she was born, and Sienna won't even tell her what her father's name was.
Her grandparents spoiled her rotten, but her mother expected a lot from her, and pushe dher hard. Too hard, some might say, but Mackenzie never thought so. It was just normal, it was what was expected of her, and she learned to go with it. What mommy wanted, mommy got. That's not to say Sienna wasn't a bit of a b.itch, but she loved her daughter, she really honestly did...And still does.
Her mom and her grandparents owned a pretty high end breeding and training barn, and they had seen some of the best lines come through those doors. Over the past couple years, due to her grandparents aging, they've been downsizing, but they still run a hard business. Their English horses were some of the best, and Mackenzie was on them before she could walk.
She grew up around the horses, and she learned fast not to be stupid. Her mom's motto was pretty much it's never the horse's fault, so even if Kenzie got hurt, she was still in trouble for doing the wrong thing in the first place. She grew very horse savvy, VERY fast. She learned quickly that horses were not a thing to be messed with.
As most children do, she went to a local kindergarten. Her mother passed up the opportunity of daycare, as Kenzie was kept busy enough without it. She worked as hard at school as she did around the barn, especially when her teachers pushed her. She thrives under challenge and being pushed to be better. Unlike many kids, she actually loved school, and she grew to look forward to it every day.
Her first boyfriend was at 15, but she decided about a week after they started going out (the boyfriend happened to be an extremely pushy one) that guys were over rated and that she didn't need one in her life. Her mother firmly applauded this choice, although her grandparents kind of rolled their eyes behind closed doors, and Kenzie hasn't dated since.
She was an A+ student, but she did get into fights. In the end, that was why she was sent here. The principal was sick of all the calls from the kids (particularly boys) parents complaining about Kenzie and her temper...It was always Kenzie's fault...Never mind that Jason tried to punch her first...She heard about Canterbury and decided it was the place for her...
riding expierence: [at least one paragraph. talk about years riding, past horses, disciplines, etc.]
Like I said, Kenzie was riding before she could even walk, and she took naturally to it, too.
Her first pony was a fat little Shetland named Jack who threw her off on a regular basis while she was learning to ride (thus her anti-pony-ness) but eventually she got him trained to come and ride well and NOT buck, and NOT step on her toes. She hated him, though, and begged her mom to sell him. And so he was sold before she was even in Kindergarten.
Her second pony (she was EXTREMELY disgusted with this choice of her mother's) was a sweet little pony named Lilly who couldn't be messed with. Thanks to Jack, Kenzie had gotten rather hard hands, and Lilly wouldn't put up with that...Not in the slightest. If Kenzie ever even TWITCHED too hard, Lilly tossed her off and went running back to the barn, no matter where they were at. And so it was that Kenzie learned soft hands.
The next horse (finally) was a pretty bay and white paint mare, when Kenzie was in third grade. She was green and rather spooky (her mother was fond of putting her on horses that were way too high a caliber for her) and who spooked and dumped her on a regular basis. Kenzie got her straightened out and sold her, and thus learned to deal with spooky, bolting horses.
The next horse was her favorite by far, and the only one of the past horses that she still owns. A beatuiful bay Hano mare who was a sweety from the first but who'd been beaten from a very young age and who was extremely head shy. Over time, Shutterfly learned to trust Kenzie and Kenzie learned to trust her. She taught the mare to jump (as a fifth grader) and they won a lot of ribbons.
From there, Kenzie had basically learned all Sienna thought she could learn from already trained horses, and, by 6th grade, she was breaking two year olds and lunging yearlings and weaning foals and putting finishing touches on training projects. Naturally, she earned her keep, but she got some money out of the deal, too. So she's got a lot of savvy behind her and knows how to handle all kinds of horses, but she still has a tendency to lean toward hard hands, and she knows she needs to get over that....
