One, two, three and over. It was only a warm up jump, a novice jump, a simple two foot six inch coop. Kayden always had to warm up the over excitable Cadillac Cruise when they were working cross country, otherwise he would get on course and have a rocket underneath him. And as good as going fast is to make time in cross country, too fast is dangerous. The Irish Sport Horse stallion was fully decked out; cross country boots on all four feet, a breast plate and a figure eight bridle. Kayden was also in full cross country gear – a cross country vest and titanium helmet included.
He moved his reins to the left, turning the horse in a bar turn, not allowing the horses shoulders to slip out of place. This was the most effective way to turn a horse when jumping for many reasons – but now is not the time for that. A large, solid, brick wall stood only a few strides away, and at four feet it was a daunting jump. Of course Cruz barely hesitated, leaping eagerly over the jump before rocking backwards to take off some of the pressure that the extra four foot drop to the water on the other side would create upon his canons. After galloping out of the water Kayden circled, bringing the horse back to a steady walk. Kayden didn’t think he was going to do a course today, just jump some random jumps and get Cruz ready for their up and coming horse trials.

Sure Teegan didn't jump any of this stuff, especially not riding in a western saddle- nor did she have any eventing training whatsoever. But she decided that she just wanted to get out and ride around today, being that her mare Tainted Passion, otherwise known as Bella was here now. It was making school much easier to get through knowing that Teegan had someone from home to help her get through the rought times. This mare was Teegan's prized possesion, she had worked long hard hours getting this mare where she was today, and they had gained such a strong bond, and Teegan loved her to death. Plus she had a love for speed, just as Teegan did and the two made a fantastic pair in the barrel ring.
She loped along easily keeping the mare on a long rein- Bella's head relaxed her dapples shining over her grey coat in the sun as they rode along. They cantered on the cross-country course, she steered clear of the jumps, as to not give Bella any ideas. She saw a female rider, not sure who and not familiar with the horse either, She stayed clear of that rider to as not to get in the way of their jumping. She then saw a large dapple grey galloping in the distance, she recognized them- Kayden. A smile spread across her face as she cantered off in that direction she saw the pair soar over a fence she halted in the distance, and saw Kayden coming back their way.Well look at you go, She said with a small laugh, he and his horse looked amazing. Teegan had no idea that he was that good, a large smile spread across her face as she watched the pair.

Kayden was smiling as he gathered his reins, ready to point the large stallion at another jump when he saw two other riders. One he knew was Teegan, on a horse he assumed was her western horse from home, and the other he didn’t know, though the rider looked vaguely familiar. He chuckled as he heard Teegan speak, and in a mock salute he nudged Cruz back into a canter, pointing him towards a large corner jump. Corner jumps were always tricky, as you had to hit the jump just right to allow the horse to have an easy trip. Of course, Cruz was experienced in corners and took the four foot high, four foot wide section of the jump as if it was a cross rail. The next jump would be a bit more of a challenge, a ditch complex. Cruz hated ditches – he would jump them, but not with pleasure. As they approached the first part of the complex, a large, four foot high log, the horse sailed easily over it, his muscles bunching and releasing perfectly. The ditch was next, and the horse rocked backwards, causing Kayden to place his weight into the saddle, and make a growling noise. The horse stutter stepped going up to the ditch, and jumped the three foot wide, water filled obstacle as if it was a 5 foot oxer, placing him unusually close to the next part of the jump, a 3 foot upwards bank. Cruz rocked backwards and took the bank from almost a halt, rocketing up it with no problem. By the time they stopped, Kayden was closer to the other rider then Teegan, and his smile was from ear to ear. “Atta boy!” His hand found the horses neck and he patted it joyfully – they weren’t done, but Cruz could use a breather, Kayden didn’t want him tired out for the weekend.
