^^ those are full chaps, I don't wear them personally but i think that the purpose for them is just to keep your jeans tucked. lol. ^^ those are english half chaps, that just go around the lower portion of your leg, they also help to keep your jeans tucked in and looking neater. ^^ western chaps, same thing to keep jeans in place and tucked in I assume. but more often than in english western chpas will have fringe like that.

Just a note, cause I feel like being helpful lol, I have worn full chaps before, and yeah you can use them to tuck in your jeans, but I mainly wore them when I was to lazy to wear jeans or riding pats. I would wear shorts, sofies, or like gym, and you wear them to "protect" your legs and stuff. Don't know what this was for, but I thought I might add it =)

Never heard of them keeping your legs still before lol. Wouldn't know though. I would think it was part of the rider's job on keeping their legs still. Oh well *shrug* lol Learn something new everyday huh?

it is our job, but until youve ridden and jumped a five foot oxer with a 8 foot base spread you have no idea how hard that is ;]

or on trail rides, when ponies decide they would like to go galloping through that pricker bush... wish i owned a pair of full chaps.
and my half chaps have saved my legs. really. if i dont wear them, the insides of my legs bleed from rubbing against the stirrup leathers. painful. i personally never use them to tuck my jeans or anything. they're necessary for my survival at this point. hehe . =)

I love my half chaps. They're amazing. I still have to wrap my legs in vet wrap though. Or else I get these ugly saddle sores on the insides of my legs. ewwww.

I think I just have really sensitive skin or something. I've gone through like four pairs of chaps and they all still rub. and I don't think my legs are all that weak, they don't swing or anything. I don't know whats wrong with me! haha.
