Chase was pissed that his grandfather had sent him here to continue his training as an eventer, why couldn't he have stayed where he was at back home. Nooo, Chase's grandfather thought it would be best to send him out to California, where he could make friends, ride great horses and more. Because his grandfather felt he wasn't getting enough social life, at home. Chase walked around the barn, to the back where all the pastures and paddocks were. From his trained equestrian eyes, most of the horses he saw were run down school horses. Yes, Chase was cocky- and knew the horses he liked and didn't like. He came to a paddock where a large dapple grey grazed at the far end, he leaned against the fence line and watched the stallion. A horse that good probably wasn't even a school horse, probably the trainer's or the barn owners. But the horse had excellent conformation, and a stunning presence. Chase leaned his elbows on the fence and just stood there watching the magnificent horse graze in the distant.

Kailee walked out to the pasture where Stoley was kept. A loud trumpeting whinny welcomed her. She looked over and noticed a boy standing looking at a dapple grey in the next pasture, but Stoley grabbed her attention once more. Kailee laughed as the stallion bucked and reared. Suddenly the thunderous sound of hooves echoed through out the air. The girl was almost afraid that the stallion wouldn't stop his full speed gallop before he reached the fence. But she was mistaken. The stallion suddenly slid back on his hocks and came to a full stop at the fence. The stallion stuck his nose into Kailee's face, waiting for kisses and treats. Hey Stoley! How's my Soldier Boy doing today? The girl's crystal clear laugh echoed through the air and the sun glinted off of her glistening hair.

Chase continued to stand there at the fence line watching the stallion off in the distance admiring his conformation and his presence, he smiled to him self, then heard the footsteps of another student and saw the fury of black racing across the pasture. The dapple grey looked famiilar but he couldn't pin point where he'd seen the horse before, or if he'd ever seen him, there were a lot of greys that looked alike. Chase couldn't wait until he would be assigned a horse, he'd signed up for lessons already and in the forms it was stated that the intstructor would bring a suitable horse for him during their first lesson. He watched the other girl and her horse, then he walked over to stand a few feet away against the fence where she was, while her horse nuzzeled against her. Chase smiled at the affection that horse and rider shared, he smiled at the girl too, she was pretty cute- maybe a year or so younger than he was.
Chase looked from the horse to her, before saying So- do you know who's horse that is over there? he asked nodding his head in the direction of the dapple grey in the pasture next to them. He then stuck out his hand in a greeting for her By the way- I'm Chase, Chase Henderson.

Kailee jumped at the sound of a voice. When she turned toward the sound, she was suprised to see the boy had come closer to her. She looked out toward the horse that he pointed to. That's Cruz. He is one of the instructor's horses. I'm Kailee Furillo. Kailee looked back at the guy with a timid smile. She did a once over of him. He reminded her of an ex-boyfriend of hers.
Suddenly, Kailee was gone......her eyes glazed over and a memory flashed in her mind......
Stoley shoved her with his nose, pushing her to the ground and bringing her back to the present. Damn it Stoley! The horse shook his majestic head at her as if to say "Idiot!" Kailee's face turned beet red and she glanced up at chase.

Chase listened as she told him that the dapple grey stallion in the pasture over was Cruz- that's it! He knew he'd seen that horse before, but he couldn't pin point who his rider was, he'd figure that out some other time. He watched the pretty brunette girl beside him for a moment, her eyes seemed distant and he wasn't quite sure what was wrong. He looked at the horse Stoley.. was it? For a moment then looked back to the girl who'd she introduced herself as Kailee he smiled, then only to watch her horse knock her to the ground, he bent down and held out his hand for her. He bent beside her a smile on his face- his hand out to help her up; It's nice to meet you Kailee, a smile still resting over his lips. His blue eyes barely were concealled as the tips of his hair rested gently just at his eyes.

Kailee flashed Chase an embarrassed smile. She felt herself starting to really like this guy. Kailee reached for his hand, and let him pull her up. She looked up into his blue eyes, slightly hidden behind his hair. Kailee couldn't remember her thoughts, let alone where she was at all.
She shook her head. Don't even think about it Kailee! The girl looked back up at Chase with her liquid chocolate eyes. What grade are you?

Chase helped Kailee back on her feet after her horse had knocked her to the ground, he gave her a charming chase smile. The type that just made the girls fall for him- he couldn't help it- that was just who Chase was. His motto that his friends back home had given him- was don't let the charm of chase break you heart. Because yes it was true, he'd broken a few hearts before. Not on purpose- but sometimes girl's just fell for him, and there wasn't anything he could do about it, it just happened. There had been plenty of times where he hadn't really even liked the girl, but just by the charming actions he had, and how good he looked- from what others told him. Girls tended to just fall for him left and right. When Kailee asked what grade he was in, he replied with a simply- I'm a junior this year. What about you? He said shooting the question right back at her. She was pretty, and cute too- the way that her brown hair fell around her face and concealled the pretty brown eyes that she had. He couldn't help but smile down at her, as he awaited for her answer.

Kailee looked up at him. Don't even think about it Kailee!! She couldn't help but gaze into his blue eyes.
I'm a sophomore. Kailee said, brushing her soft brown hair out of her face.
So are you new here? Kailee asked, as she couldn't think of anything else to say.

Chase watched momentarily as she brushed her brown hair from here eyes, he leaned against the fence and gently petted the stallion beside them for a moment, she figured it must be Kailee's school horse that she was assigned. He smiled when she told him that she was a sophomore, and he responded with a simple, cool, and that charming smile still resting on his face.
When she asked if he was new here, he nodded, Yeah, I'm the new guy, I just got here a few days ago. He told her, he hated being the new kid and not knowing anybody here, So, where did you live before you moved out here to canterbury? He asked her, he was interested in how far some of the students had traveled, he- himself had made the journey all the way from Kentucky.

Kailee smiled when he told her that he was the new guy. She remembered the feeling of not knowing anyone. Kailee looked Chase up and down, deciding that he was probably about a year older than her. The girl averted her eyes over to the majestic horse. Stoley was gazing over at her with his liquid brown eyes. I'm from Lexington, Kentucky. Kailee smiled to herself as she thought about the farm that she had left behind. She looked back over at the guy standing next to her. Kailee sat on the fence, and Stoley put his head over her shoulder for attention. What about you? Where are you from? Kailee asked Chase, trying to look around Stoley's large head, not an easy thing to do.

Chase stood there against the fence and awaited an answer from Kailee, as she began to speak he listened closely with open ears. A smile spread across his face when she told him that she was origanlly from Lexington, Kentcuky. He laughed gently at that, Are you serious? I lived in Kentucky too, just outside of Auburn. Funny isn't it- two people from almost the same place had to drive over 1000 miles to go to school, to finally meet? He said with a slight laugh, not trying to make fun of her or anything, just what a conincidence it was that they were both going to the same school and both coming from the horse country of Kentucky.
Chase thought of a comment in his head, it was completely sure he wanted to throw it out there at the moment, but he was a blunt person sometimes and he usually always said what was on his mind. So, I'm sure a girl as pretty as you are has a boyfriend hanging around here somewhere, right? He said with a small short laugh, yes he was flirting with her but he just couldn't help it- it was what Chase Henderson did.

Kailee looked over at Chase in amazement. Never in the world would she have thought that Chase was a Kentucky guy. Really?! Kailee laughed and shot Chase a playful look. I would have picked you for a city guy. Her brown eyes sparkled. At Chase's next question, Kailee hesitated. Maybe I do, maybe I don't. Kailee said with a sly smile. Her eyes twinkled at the thought of maybe Chase becoming her boyfriend. Wait, Kailee. Don't get ahead of yourself girl! She said to herself.

Chase laughed gently when Kailee said really?! he was surprised at her reaction, but he did understand he didn't always look the part of the country boy, horse type. Yeah, I guess I don't exactly look the part of a horseback rider, do I? He said with another laugh, it was true he tended to dress in abercrombie and american eagle for the most part, rather than just part jeans and a t-shirt. He couldn't help it, it was just who he was.
When he heard the words of,Maybe I do, maybe I don't. He couldn't help but smile at her, his blue eyes sparkling and dancing over her features. So she was going to play hard to get, huh? Ohh, so were going to play that game are we? Jake said with a sly smile matching hers. When he liked girls, or was flirting, etc. He tended to be very blunt and straight tot he point with things. Well, maybe I like you and maybe I don't. He said with a smile and turned around and headed off to the barn. A smile resting on his face the entire time as he walked, if she didn't have a boyfriend hopefully she'd come after him.

Kailee laughed when he said that he didn't really look the part of a rider. When he said that maybe he liked her and maybe didn't, she stared at him in amazement. She didn't think that he could actually like her though. Grabbing the lead rope that was at the gate of the pasture, she clipped it onto Stoley's halter. Kailee kissed his nose and led the big horse back into the barn following Chase. She found him right next to her stallion's stall. Her eye caught the guitar case that was leaning against her tack trunk. Kailee looked back up at Chase. She stepped up close to him. Well, maybe I like you, maybe I don't.

Chase really liked this girl and the attitude she had, and how she knew how to play the little games that Chase played in the ways of flirting with her, it was just who Chase Henderson was. He leaned against the door of Stoley's stall as Kailee put him away, he saw her eye something behind him, so he turned breifly to see a guitar case leaning against one of the trunks in the aisle. So you play? He asked her raising a brow, making his statement sound like he played too. He just wanted to start up some kind of conversation get to know her better or something. A brief thought popped into his head, he needed a date to prom. But then shook his head mentally to scold himself that he barely knew this girl and she probably didn't want to go with a selfcentered ass like him.
