reason*: she has never really felt at home on the back of a larger horse. back at home, most of her time was spent schooling ponies similiar to Streak (old, but still too strong to simmer and let little kids ride them), and she feels that being back on a small pony would ease the transition. She is also quite short - 5'1" - making her a more suitable size for the little guy than she would be for a horse, or somebody else would be for the pony.
She has always exceled in the pony world, and has the experience to balance her weight and stay out of his way.
