She stood outside the quiet cafe, peering inside tentatively. She wasn't usually this nervous about new situations. Often, she actually faired quite well. But now, for whatever reason, she couldn't bring herself to step inside the doors and order a coffee. Maybe it was the memories that came flooding back. Except she was with her mafia then, and instead of ordering coffee, they were trying to sneak-order her a few beers. And now she was alone, with nobody to sneak her anything. She took a deep breath before pushing open the door and stepping inside. Immediately, the strong sceant of coffee overwhelmed her, and she suddenly forgot why she had been so nervous. There was coffee in here. Why be nervous when you have coffee?
After ordering her modest choice in coffee - just one shot of cream - she retreated to a small circular table nearer to the back of the cafe. After setting her drink down and taking a seat, she peered over the rim of the cup. Her stomach was doing backflips as she stirred the contents of the cup, trying to forget that she'd be drinking this alone. Trying to forget the emptiness that leaving her inner circle left in her. And maybe, she was just making this up. Maybe she just needed an excuse to mope and linger, so that she wouldn't have to go unpack right away. Unpacking would be the official closing out of the way things had been. She would no longer have her mafia, or her ponies at home just a few yards away from her room. She'd have to start over and make new friends. Unfortunately, she was never very good at that.
She sighed and stared vacantly through the window beside her, still absently stirring her coffee. After a few moments, the hand she was holding the cup with began to burn, rudely reminding her of reality. She frowned before lifting the cup to her lips and taking a slow, long sip. The sudden rush of caffeine sending a chill down her spine. She pulled the cup away from her mouth and set it back on the table, not trusting her stomach to hold the coffee at all. As far as she knew, the only thing her stomach held when she was like this was liquor.

After waking up kind of late in the afternoon, Andrew had just been hanging around like a bum in his dorm room. There was barely anything to eat in his dorm, so after awhile, Andrew had decided to go out and get something to eat. After putting on some sweat pants and a sweat shirt, he grabbed the basic stuff that was needed and went to his mustang. He smiled seeing the shiny blue hit off the beam of sun. Quickly getting in, he took off towards the cafe. It was right near the heart of the mall, so if he didn't feel like going home, he could just go to the mall and walk around and observe. Better than being stuck in his dorm all day. Plus, Andrew was the type of guy who always loved getting out and doing new stuff.
Getting out of the car, he put the head part of his hoodie over his head. It wasn't an ugly day out, Andrew just loved wearing hoodies when he was bumming out that day. Plus they were extremely comfortable. As Andrew walked into the cafe, the small sound of the bell ringing as he came it went on. Looking around, the place seemed to be comfy like and nothing to fancy which was good. Seeing as it wasn't too crowded, Andrew went to the booth and sat down looking at the menu, but already had what he wanted to eat in mind. I'll get the chicken sandwitch, curly fries, an order of motzerella sticks, and a pepsi he said with a smile to the waiter.
Putting the menu where he found it, Andrew sat there waiting for his food. He was definatly hungry and if the food he got didn't satisfy him, you can bet he would be getting more. Looking around, Andrew observed the place and spotted a girl sitting not far from him. Looking at her, he watched her for a bit. She seemed to be very scared or nervous about something. Yeah, Andrew tended to be good at reading people, but you can simply see all that on this girl's face and her actions. Are you ok? You don't look too good So maybe that might freak the girl out a bit, having a complete stranger ask if she was ok. That was Andrew though. He was extremely friendly and most of the time could always keep a conversation going on. He truly did care about his friend and would all he could do to help them out. Now of course there was the jerk and asshole part in Andrew, but he couldn't help that.

She had been staring quite contently at her coffee for a moment, jumping when she noticed somebody was speaking to her. She set the coffee on the table, not wanting to spill it and burn herself. She looked over at whoever was talking to her, and settled now, knowing that it wasn't a creepy stranger. Well... stranger, yes. Creepy... no, not at all.
"What? Oh... no, I'm fine. Just new and a little lonely..."
Well, she wasn;t quite so lonely now that somebody was talking to her, as opposed to everbody else in the cafe who seemed to pass right by. She took a deep breath and sat back against her chair more, trying to relax.
"I'm Nicole, by the way."

Andrew smiled and laughed a bit to himself as she seemed to jump a bit as Andrew spoke to her. Something must really be freaking her out, just maybe. After a moment, she seemed to be less calm, which was a good thing Andrew guessed. Giving a small laugh again, he nodded. Ok, just checking. You didn't look, erm, well? He didn't mean it in a sickly type way, he just meant is as in she looked scared or nervous. Not like you were sick, just nervous or something he said quickly.
Staying quiet for a moment, he looked at her. She was definatly not an ugly girl at all, and he considered her pretty cute. Well, I'll help you out with your lonliness then he said with a gentle smile. Seeing that the waiter was no wear near to bringing his food, Andrew turned to face the girl. Nice to meet you Nicole, I'm Andrew he said with a smile, and took a sip of his pepsi. So how long have you bene here exactly. I've been here for barely a week now Andrew spoke beginning a conversation.

She didn't look well? She couldn't help but to smile and shake her head a little as he told her this. She just got distant sometimes - if she was alone, her thoughts would drift off and she'd be lost in them until somebody interrupted them. Just like what happened a few minutes ago.
She nodded after he introduced himself. At least she wasn't going to be completely alone here at first. She could talk to Andrew, although, she knew that he would eventually leave, and as would she - there was still loads of unpacking to do.
"Hi, Andrew."
She didn't even know how long she'd been here. Certainly no longer than a day. How long had she been sitting in this chair? Well, she had come right here after dropping her things off at her dorm. So maybe two or three hours. It sounded about right, didn't it?
"I just got here a few hours ago. I couldn't handle unpacking right away, so I figured I'd come here to avoid it."

Andrew let out a small laugh, hoping he wasn't offending the girl. She didn't seem to take it too seriously so it was ok. Everyone got like that in their own way, even Andrew, for whatever reason it might be. Everyone has their own way of dealing with certain things, good or bad. Hey atleast now Andrew had met someone else new. He himself still was new and didn't know a whole lot of people just yet. Knowing Andrew though, he was bound to meet a lot more people. He was very social and never really had a problem meeting new people or hanging out with them.
Andrew smiled as she said hi, and he did the same and nodded. She seemed kind of shy, but Andrew usually tried not to judge people at first look. It was kind of like that whole, don't judge a book by it's cover thing. Laughing, he nodded. Ah so your just barely fresh here he said in a joking way. Andrew remembered when he had gotten here. It wasn't a huge mess, but there was a lot of confusion. ONe of the first things he did was go see his new horse and later go to the club. Typical party boy thing.
Shaking his head he looked back up at Nicole. The joys of unpacking, aren't they fun? Andrew had always hated that packing, unpacking stuff. He really just grabbed stuff and threw it all together. It was fun when he realized he had forgotten stuff he really needed. Turning around he saw the waiter had brought his food, and thanked him. Boy he was hungry. He quickly took a bite of sandwitch, smiling. Damn, this was good. As he swallowed he turned back to Nicole. You probably think I'm a pig. Trust me I'm not. I just like to eat he said with another small laugh.

She almost wished that she knew the joys of unpacking - she hadn't even really started yet. At the rate she was going, she might start by June. So, she didn't see much of a point when you thought of it that way. It's all gonna go back in boxes anyway.
"I wish I knew. Haven't started yet."
And she had never had to unpack anywhere before. Even when she went to Massachusetts to see her dad after the divorce, she treated it more like a sleep-over.
She smiled and laughed a little bit as the waiter set Andrew's food down and he began to dig in. A pig? Him? Never. She'd seen worse. So much worse.
"Do you oink?"
She asked almost sarcastically, maybe like a joke. But she was never very good with jokes - so it was possible that it could make no sense to him at all.

Giving a small laugh he shook his head. Well I wish you luck then It had always seemed that girls packed way too much than they needed, but Andrew did know some guys who really did over pack too. So there would be no pointing of the finger. Luckily Andrew really didn't have much to unpack still. He believed he had gotten everything, so that was a relief, thank goodness.
As he waited for her to say something else, Andrew grabbed a motzerella stick, dipping it in the sauce, taking a bite. Oh so good. Food was amazing, and Andrew found it hard to believe sometimes how some people just hated food. He didn't know what to say to those people. Hearing her comment he looked back at her and laughed. Occasionally Of course he didn't, but it was fun to mess around. Just then Andrew attempted to make an 'oink' sound and just burst out laughing at the attempt. See I'm a true pig This girl probably thought that Andrew was most definatly a big weirdo. Hey, he could be different, but she was laughing and that was a good thing.

She smiled and shook her head lightly before taking another sip from her coffee. By now, it was cold and sent a disgusting chill down her spine. She made a face at the contents of the cup before setting it back down on the table, this time, permenantly.
Her attention moved back to Andrew as he made his attempt at an oink. She tried to refain from bursting out with laughter, which was only effective to a small extent. She still couldn't help but to at least chuckle a little bit.
"I don't know... I'm still not convinced."
And then, a quick change of thought. True, it would seem a random thought, but it was the way her mind worked. After talking about one thing for a while, it would jump to another thing. Whether that other subject was related to the first one or not, was usually a toss up. This one wasn't.
"Sorry, if this seems kind of out of place, but do you ride at CA?"
ooc; bad post. sorry. i knew this muse thing wouldn't last very long.

Andrew let out a small laugh seeing her face as she looked into her cup. He didn't know what she was having but it certainly wasn't good. Shaking his head, he took another bite of his sandwich, not realizing how hungry he really had been. Of course Andrew knew his manners and wasn't going to be like a dog and just dig in making a mess. Well, normally Andrew wasn't like that, but still he was just a polite guy. Yes, he most definately had his flaws, which even Andrew himself, after realizing them, knew they could be pretty bad. Overall, most people seemed to love him and he knew that. Maybe that what gave it away to make him seem like he was a very cocky guy. Shrugging, he took a sip of his pepsi.
Laughing he shook his head. Hey, I tried my best he said honestly. She was laughing, so it was a good thing. Hearing the bell ring, Andrew looked over to see who walked in. Of course it wouldn't be anyone he knew yet, but Andrew was still curious like that. Seeing it was just another person who worked at the cafe, he turned back to Nicole. Hearing her question he smiled. Yeah I do actually was said with a nod. My step parents own a riding stable. I ride the 4 year old Warmblood Romeo, here at CA Thinking of the chestnut gelding, he smiled. Romeo had so much spunk in him and Andrew had so much fun. I'm going to guess you do? He only figured since she had brought it up.
((no worries, it happens to all of us))
