So fragile are the bonds that are created between family members. And it seems that the fewer bonds there are to be broken... the stronger they are. The few that you hold close to your heart are the only things that you hold more dear to yourself than, well, your own life. And now, if you could, perchance imagine the odd situation in which there was only one of these such bonds... well, you can't even begin to imagine the pain it should inflict, might it break.
Well, for this lowly composed femme protruding from the horizon, it broke. She had grown up only knowing her mother - always being told that something bad had happened to her father and the rest of the herd had moved to different lands. She knew enough now to know that, yes, something bad happened to her father, but the rest of the herd never moved on. Something bad happened to them too. And the only reason her mother was alive was to save her baby. To save Autumn. And save Autumn she did... until her very last breath.
This bond was so great, that the femme had been convinced that there was no other creature in the world quite like her mother. And surely there wasn't, and there never would be. But the point was, that now that her mother had passed - no such thing exsisted. No caring nuzzles, no guiding eye, no soothing talks about the future, and how they'd get better and find a new family. And probably worst of all... nobody to tell her that things were ok. Nobody to tell her that even though things looked bad, they would be become good. Now here comes the killer - no more 'i love you's.
Now here's a cold hard bitter truth... Autumn was done with love. No, she'd never been in love before, but if she did decide to love, and it went wrong, she'd have no where to go. No one to run to. So why was she here? Certainly not for love. No, no, no. She wanted conversation. A good talk. Maybe get some sort of living arrangement out of this. She wasn't expecting love by any means at all. Her mothers love was all she had ever needed - all she would ever remember wanting. And it was gone. So... bye, bye love.
Three ebon daggers and one ivory. Four slender but powerful limbs tucked tightly underneath her frame as she reached the mountain. She'd never been here before - never even heard of it. But something like instinct told her to come. And something like instinct told her that the mountain was trecherous - and that the safest location was right here. But why worry about trechory? Whatchya got to live for now, anyway? No family. Certainly no friends... a future? The future was looking bleak enough as it was. She didn't need to put her life in jeopardy perchance that it would provide her with a momentary feeling of happiness if, and only if, someone was indeed at the top waiting.
Front appendages danced eagerly in place, nares flared as heavy puffs of carbon dioxide were released into the summer air. So much time was spent in this sort of pace as she decided what to do, that by the time her mind was nearly made up to stay put, the unusual heat already had her lathered from her poll to her haunches. Well, if nothing else, the thick lather of sweat certainly made up her mind. She was going to stay put, and anyone interested in chatting with dearest Autumn would simply have to come down the mountain to her.
character
full name: nicole-lynn tamers
nicknames: none really. some people get away with calling her nikki.
age: fifteen.
grade: sophomore
clique: sweethearts
gender: female
sexuality: straight.
family: mom= elena, 42. dad= travis, 45. sister= riley, 5.
physical appearance: She's pretty short, as in barely making 5'1", most of the height coming from her legs, and a short upperbody. She has a round face, and her eyes are rings of different colors (blue on the outside, then the majority is brown, and on the very inside, its green). Her hair is always kept at just past shoulder length, and is a coffee brown with blonde highlights. She's overall, fairly pretty, but doesn't quite stand out as much as other girls. She doesn't do much to her appearence - she never wears makeup or does anything fancy with her hair.
She's pretty fit, but doesn't go to any great efforts to stay in form (fast metabolism). Is muscled, but not in the gross, overly buff and manly way. She just has the typical muscles common for somebody who has been working with horses for their entire life. She has a few freckles on her face, and just one or two on each arm. Fairly tan complexion.
clothing style: She really isn't too worried about impressing people with the way she dresses. She's always wearing whatever makes her comfortable, which is typically bootcut jeans and a nice polo or sweatshirt. Never much one for wearing name brands or getting too revealing with her clothes. And on her feet, if she's not wearing her paddock boots, she's usually wearing old and torn up converse or pumas. She's always gone for comfort before style.
likes: ponies, fiction novels, scarey movies, sour candy, vitamin water, and the wonderful world of eventing.
dislikes: math, teenage drama, slobs, ignorance, having change in her pockets, and cleaning tack.
personality: Generally, she is a very happy person. She loves to be around her friends, which is usually when her true colors shine through - she can be a handful, or a wildcat if you will. However, she is usually very shy when meeting new people, and has trouble with opening up and being herself before she really gets to know someone. Oddly enough, she is very eager to talk to new people on her own terms and she knows she won't see them too often. Usually is very quiet in school until she has something to say or is asked a question.
She tries to be kind to everyone and refrains from judging too quickly. She is always willing to do her best to help everyone. However, she had a tendancy to take the weight of the world on her shoulders and make her friends' problems hers until she finds a solution. She also hates when people close to her are hurting, and will drive herself insane trying to make them feel better. Overall, she is a friendly person and tries to be the best that she can.
history: Nicole started riding when she was five with her aunt. Since then, she was hooked on horses and they began to dominate her entire life. She never has had too many friends, but the ones she has had are from barns she's worked at over the years. Her parents allowed the obsession to ensue, as long as it kept her out of trouble in school. However, some of the people she met at the barn would get her into more trouble than her parents could forsee. But those instances are merely tales for another time, and have done nothing but mold her into the person she is.
After a particularly bad fall off of a school pony, her dad didn't want her to ride anymore. Her mother supported her riding 100%, and since it had already taken hold of the majority of her daughter's life, she argued with her husband. Eventually, the disagreement brought the two to get a divorce, and since then, Nicole has blamed herself, but continues to ride through every fall and injury. Soon after the divorce, Nicole's mom discovered that she was pregnant with Riley, and kept it a secret from her husband until the baby girl was born. Nicole formed a strong bond with her sister, and plans to teach her how to ride when she gets out of school - in her mind, justification of her parents' divorce ten years prior.
As far as the love life, Nicole has never had much of one. She had one boyfriend in the past, whom she broke up with because he had no interest in horses and was getting in the way of her "barn time". She has, however, been known to "experiment" a bit. Also, after a few wild nights (of course with that not-so-good crowd from the barn) has been known to do a few things with guys that she also has a tendancy to forget. As far as she knows, it has been entirely sex-free.
riding expierence: Nicole started riding when she was just five years old at her aunt's farm. Around the age of ten, she started volunteering at whatever barn would take her in exchange for lessons. She learned fast, and in the past five years has moved from the short stirrup ring up and onward to the big, wide world of jumpers and eventing. Most of her time at the barn is spent schooling ponies for younger students or working at the summer camp. In her riding career, she has had three horses - Lilly, Cookie, and Joe. Cookie has been her favorite, and she refuses to let him go. Although she has spent most of her time in the english world, she has also stepped foot into western, but just learning enough to do it for pleasure. In her experiences, she has grown rather fearless and daring on the back of a horse.
