Teegan was dressed in a simply turquoise graphic t-shirt, scattered with summer designs on the front, and on the bottoms she sported a pair of simply, but cute denim shorts. Her hair was down today- in it’s natural curly/ wavy state, the sun really brining out the light blonde in her hair. The music thumped behind the glass of the windows, as Teegan drove down the road with the AC on in her silver Honda Ridgeline pick-up truck, Yes- that’s right Teegan drives a truck. Sure she may just look like a preppy blonde on the outside at times, but truly; deep down in her heart she’s a genuine cowgirl. She pulled into the blacktop parking lot of the beach, and drove to the far end of the lot and parked her large silver truck in the closest spot she could find to the pristine beige sand. Teegan shifted into park, and clicked off the radio as she reached over into the passenger seat and pulled her tote bag over her shoulder. It carried her phone, sunglasses, one of her favorite books, sun screen and last but not least a large beach towel. She pulled the keys from the ignition and tossed them into her bag as she jumped down from her truck, she locked the door behind her and headed off towards the calming ocean. As soon as her feet hit the warm sand, she pulled off her navy blue flip flops, and held them in her hand as walked down the beach to find an open area of sand, where she wouldn’t been to close to any other people.
She finally found a good spot in the sand about 30 feet from the tide, she pulled her towel from her bag and laid it out over the sand, she threw her flip flops down next to her towel and pulled off her t-shirt, revealing her tan and athletic body that she’d gotten from numerous years of riding. She then pulled off her denim shorts and tucked her clothes into her bag. The swimsuit she sported was a simply black bandeau bikini that was her absolutely favorite. Teegan didn’t mind being at the beach alone; as it was very calming- but she wouldn’t mind company- seeing as she hadn’t made to many friends here at Canterbury yet.

Caleb maneuvered easily around the cars, the soft purr of his motorcycle barely audible beneath the growl of the cars all around him. The white, silver, and black beast beneath her was the closest thing to a stallion that he could find that was allowed free reign of the street. His own horse, Hershey, was confined to his stall or the pasture when Caleb wasn't riding him. Poor guy, he loved riding so much and here was only so many times Caleb could ride him without wearing Hershey out. Caleb blasted through a red light, chuckling to himself as horns blared around him.
Finally arriving at his destination, Caleb pulled to a stop and climbed off the Harley. His tight jeans looked out of place as he stepped onto the beach, bright brown eyes scanning the many people around him. He spotted someone he recognized from Canterbury and slowly strode over to her after sliding out of his boots. The light breeze slapped against his bare torso, his unbuttoned button up flapping in the breeze. He dropped his boots in the sand before plopping down beside her.
"Hey. You go to Canterbury, right?"

Teegan laid down on her towel and stuck her sunglasses over her eyes and let her blonde hair fall around her head, she picked out familiar sounds in the distant; she could here a few sirens of ambulences and such, then she heard the faint rumble of a motorcycle, and numerous car engines and beeping horns. Teegan stared at the soft white clouds, through her sunglasses; as she gazed up at the pure blue sky overhead. Before she knew it she was startled slightly and as a guy came up and asked 'Hey. you go to canterbury right?'
Teegan swiftly sat up to see who the boy was, she thought she'd seen him aruond campus before; but she wasn't sure. She pulled up her sunglasses and rested them onto of her head where her blonde mess of waves and curls were. She gave him a smile and said, Yeah- I go to Canterbury. I'm Teegan, Teegan Hawthorne. She stuck out her hand to greet the boy, who now was sitting in the sand beside her, And you are? She asked the other teen sweetly.
She peered out at the incoming tide of the ocean and watched in was back out to sea, a tiny smile rested over her lips as she turned back to the boy, while she awaited his response.

Caleb glanced at the girl, taking in her mass of curls as she slid her sunglasses up to sit on her head. He took her hand, his grasp gently firm. He dropped her hand, turning to stare at the waves. The salty scent in the air rested over him and he relaxed. The beach was a comforting change of scenery. He tilted his head up to the sun, letting the beams warm his taut body.
"I'm Caleb. Nice to meet you, Teegan."
He ran his hand through the sand. Sifting through the small grains, he flexed his shoulders as he relaxed. Sea gulls high above his head cawed loudly. He glanced over his shoulder, making sure his bike was still there. He turned back to her.
"Who do you ride? I'm with Hershey. Big guy, soft heart."

She smiled as he introduced himself, then she ran her fingers through the ends of her bright blonde mess of hair. Teegan then added, Nice to meet you too, Caleb. The then watched the teen beside her for a moment, then looked out at the horizon on the ocean and sighed at how pretty it was. She then turned back to Caleb as he spoke about how he rode the horse Hershey; she smiled trying to picture the barn and which one hershey was; she had a faint idea of which horse he was. Then she thought to her horses back home, those were the last horses she'd ridden; because she hadn't been able to decide which horse she wanted. There were so many she loved and had amazing personalities.
I actually don't have an assigned horse yet, I haven't been able to make up my mind yet, she told him, with a small laugh. Her blonde hair began to blow slightly with the warm breeze coming off the ocean, and sent the scent of salt water all over the beach. So, what grade are you in? She asked him, adjusting her blonde hair so it was back out of her eyes.

Caleb glanced at her in surprise. No horse? That must suck. Caleb didn't think he'd be able to just sit around all day and not ride. He leaned forward, crossing his arms on his knees and staring at the distant horizon. He missed Tempest, sure, but Hershey was a great horse, no matter what his faults were. All of the horses were great, as far as he was concerned. He glanced at her.
"You should really apply for a horse, you know. They're great for relieving tension and giving you a good time." He smiled. "I'm in eleventh, and you?"

Yeah, I'm starting to have horse withdrawl, Teegan said with a laugh she hadn't ridden in over a week, and she missed riding already; back home she was riding almost 6 days a week. She knew she really had to apply for a horse soon, or at least have the new trainer help her pick out one of the school horses to be assigned to her. She just couldn't go any longer without riding.
She smiled as he told her that he was in 11th grade, Junior just like her. I'm a Junior too, she said with a smile; Caleb seemed to be a really nice guy so far, and he seemed like a very down to earth guy, So how long have you been here at Canterbury? She asked him before letting her ocean blue eyes peer out over the water.

Caleb smiled slowly at her mention of horse withdrawal. He'd been here two weeks before applying for a horse, mostly just because he couldn't find the time between moving, unpacking, signing up for classes, checking on Kaylin, and working on his Harley, and those two weeks had been a living hell. Whenever he could find time, it seemed that something always popped up - especially Kaylin asking for rides everywhere so she could buy this or that. When he finally got around to looking at the horses, he'd fallen in love with Hershey and just like that he was hooked again.
"I've been here for about five weeks, a little bit more than a month. And you?"
His warm brown eyes touched on her face for a moment before he was back to staring at the waves. They'd always held a sort of mystery for Caleb. They were just like horses. The waves, he means. They were rough, and smooth, and beautiful. He shook his head at himself. He was spending too much time with Kaylin. He glanced at Teegan. Thank goodness it seemed that he now had a new friend, or the prospect of a new friend. He'd already made a few, but not many. So Teegan was definitely welcomed.

Teegan pulled her sunglasses off her head and stuck them back in the tote bag that sat next to her on her beach towel, he blond her now blowing freely with the soft, warm breeze that blew in from the ocean. She looked at the teen next to her as he spoke, telling her that he'd been here a little over a month. God- she felt like a newbie, she'd only been at Canterbury for about a week. She was just getting settled in with her packing and her classes and everything. I've only been here for about a week, she told him.
The ocean drifted in and out with the tide; the waves crashing along the sand, before retreating back to the sea. A smile rested over her lips- it was so beautiful, it was nothing like this back home, she didn't even live anywhere close to a beach. So, where's your hometown? She asked him, wondering where he'd lived before making his trek to the Academy.

Caleb leaned forward, resting his arms on his knees. The scent of hotdogs overpowered the salty air and Caleb looked around, stomach growling. He smirked at himself. Turning back to Teegan, he listened in silence while she spoke.
"A week? That's all? And you already have time to go to the beach? Damn. It took me over two weeks to come here for the first time. What with unpacking and shit for a week, and basically driving Kaylin around for the next week... No time whatsoever."
He smirked. He loved his sister, but holy shit she liked to shop. It was just a phase, he told himself. There hadn't been a lot of places where they used to live to buy clothes. Plus, they hadn't had a lot of money back on the ranch. So she'd worn jeans and a tee, just like Caleb had. Her boots had been his hand-me-downs, but she'd seemed okay with it. He felt bad for not doing more for her. He shrugged the thought away and answered Teegan's question.
"New York. About an hour or so north of the city. You?"

'A week? That's all? And you already have time to go to the beach?' She smiled at his words, then looked at the ocean for a moment, the blue of the ocean reminded her of her own blue eyes. She ran her fingers back through her hair before turning to look at Caleb to respond with, Yeah, I should probably be unpacking and stuff right now, but I just needed to get out, and the beach seemed like the perfect place to come, she said with a tiny laugh, yes- she was procastinating, but she didn't really care. She would get all her unpacking and such done, eventually.
The wind was still breezing around them, and it was a little chilly just sitting there in her swimsuit- so she reached over in her bag and pulled out her shorts and t-shirt and pulled them on over her dry swimsuit, she looked at Caleb as he answered her question of where his hometown was. She smiled he lived near a big city just like here, Me- I lived just outside of Chicago; in the suburbs, before I moved here.
She streched out her legs so that they were straight out infront of her, the wind still tossing her hair around- and her toes now resting over the edge of her towel and in the sand. The beige sand was hot from the sun that had been beating down on it all day, but she loved the feeling of the sand between her toes. Hey- you maybe wanna go grab a bite to eat? She knew there were a few places along the beach- little stands with good food, she was starving she hadn't eaten since breakfest.

Caleb laughed.
"I see I have a procrastinator on my hands."
He shook his head playfully, just joking around. He nodded when she mentioned Chicago, having been there once or twice for this or the other thing. His hands sifted through the sand. The one thing about Caleb was that he couldn't do nothing with his hands. They were always moving, whether toying with something or drumming out a beat on his knees. When she mentioned food, his eyes brightened.
"Food would be great. How about Fabios? They have the best pizza around. I'd suggest Lycio's, but we aren't dressed appropriately." Caleb was rarely dressed appropriately. "And the cafe... just a bit too girlish for me. But it is up to you."
He slid into his boots and stood, holding out a hand to help her up.
"You're more than welcome to join me on the Harley but it might mess up your hair."
His voice was light and teasing. He didn't peg her for an 'OMG MY HAIR IS TOTALLY LIKE RUINED' type of girl, and he was sure she had her own car.

Teegan couldn't help but smile at his procrastinator comment, she was sure that the dimples on her cheeks were showing as she smiled at Caleb. The cafe... is just a bit too girlish for me. But it is up to you'. At his words, she couldn't help but let a small laugh escape her lips,Pizza sounds great, She put her things in her bag and slipped on her flip-flops, sure she may look like a preppy, dumb blonde but in actuallity, she was smart- and in her head and heart she knew she was a true genuine horse girl. She took his hand gently as he helped her off her towel, thanks, she said softly to him. She turned around and picked up her towel, and shook it off to get off as much sand as she could. That was the only disadvantage to the beach- sand got everywhere all over your things and it stayed there for weeks. She then stuck her towel in her bag, and slung the big tote over her shoulder, she then began to walk up the beach with Caleb. 'You're more than welcome to join me on the Harley,' when he spoke those words, a smile came to her face and a tiny twinkle in her eye- she'd never been on a motorcycle, but she was always up to try new things.
Then at this next words an uncontrolled laugh escaped from her lips, 'but it might mess up your hair.' She narrowed her eyes and peered up at him. I really could care less about how messed up my hair might get, She laughed- she wasn't a high matinece girl like some others were. As long as you can bring me back here later to get my truck, I'd love to ride with you. She said smiling at him- I've never been on a motorcycle before, she told him.
She made her way to her truck; grabbing her keys and some money for lunch and sticking them in the front pocket of her shorts, then locked the car and turned to Caleb- to wait to follow him to where he parked his motorcycle.

Caleb smirked at her comments and rolled his eyes.
"You aren't high maintenance? Well, isn't that a surprise. Come on, girly-girl, let's go."
He followed her slowly to her truck and waited as she dumped her stuff and grabbed her keys. Never could be too safe, he guessed. He motioned for her to start walking and they quickly reached his bike. He handed her his spare helmet and pulled his own one on, flipping down the visor. He threw a leg over the bike and stood it up.
"Hop on."
He waited, standing, while she climbed on before sitting down and talking to her over his shoulder.
"Hold on tight, Teegan."
The bike purred to life, the sound a soft rumble thanks to Caleb's tinkering. He slowly pulled out and rode down the rode to the pizzeria.

Teegan gave him a look when he called her 'girly-girl' but just let it pass. She knew that sometimes all people thought of her was, that she was a dumb, high matinence blonde. Wrong. She knew how to get down and dirty at the barn. Teegan pulled on the helmet, and then climbed onto Caleb's bike and put her arms around his waist- just how it looked like in the movies when ever people were riding motorcycles with another person. She knew they didn't totally know eachother very well- but she hoped he didn't mind that she put his arms around his waist. I hope you don't mind, Teegan said to him over his shoulder, as he kicked the bike to life beneath them.
