Ari tapped her foot as she looked out the full-length window of her bedroom, ebony eyes scanning the road. Her jeans were suddenly too tight, her shirt too uptight. She sighed. She was so nervous. She'd changed her outfit fourteen times already. You know the saying 'the third time is the charm'? Yeah. Not true. Ari went to her closet and pulled on a short jean skirt and a blue tanktop. The outfit was cute and didn't look put together, and it was comfortable. She grinned. Finally. Unfortunately, in about ten minutes, she'd probably change again.
The sixteen year old girl left her room behind to go find Will. She found him, sitting quietly in the study, a book in hand. She grinned and grabbed it up. It was some book about how muggles view werewolves. She rolled her eyes, smiling down at him.
"He's not here yet, and you're worried he won't show up."
Ari grinned at how well her brother knew her. It made certain things impossible. When she'd come home from Josh's a few weeks prior, Will had said she was practically glowing and had guessed off the bat what had happened. That day was the first in a long string of days spent with Nik, swimming and cuddling and laughing.
And now Nik was supposedly coming over to meet her parents and then they'd be on their way to the train back to school. The only problem was that Ari worried he wouldn't come. She ran her hands over her skirt and stood, planning to go upstairs and change.
"Sit down, Ari. You look fine." Will's voice was condescending and he earned a smack upside the head for it.
"Ari, be nice to your brother." Ari turned, seeing her mother standing in the doorway. Vivian was a striking woman, her long golden hair curling luxuriously over her shoulders and down her back. She was slightly taller than Ari, her stature a bit plumper, seeing as Ari had lost a lot of weight over the few months she and Nik had been seperated.
Hugh sat in the recliner in the adjoining room, eyes scanning the daily profit. He'd probably say hello to Nik and disappear. Ari smiled. She and her father got along much better than she and her mother.
She was sitting, lost in thought, when the house elf, Nikki, came in. Nikki was well clothed, and, even though she was free, she stayed with the Chase's, who treated her like their own. She bowed, promting a shaken head from Vivian, and announced that someone was at the door, a young Mister Cadogan, for Miss Arianna.
Ari leapt up, running down the hall to the front entrance way and spotted Nik. Her grin widened as she sprinted the last couple yards and flung her arms around him, her head automatically tucking under his chin.
Vivian, Hugh, and Will followed at a slower pace.
"Welcome to the Chase Ranch, Nik. We've heard so much about you." Vivian smiled, clasping her hands before her chest. Ari rolled her eyes.
"Good to meet you, Nik. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going upstairs." Hugh stopped beside Ari and pulled her slightly away from Nik. He whispered softly into Nik's ear. "Don't hurt my girl ever again, Mr. Cadogan. You seem like a good guy. I'm sure there won't be a problem." He lightly kissed Ari's forehead before climbing up the stairs.
Will nodded his head in hello.
Ari turned back to Nik, taking his hand and leading him to the kitchen where a platter of her food was arrayed. "You have to try the chocolate strawberries. They're really good. I made them all myself- grew the strawberries, made the chocolate, everything." She grabbed two, handed him one, and bit into it, the chocolate oozing out of the strawberry and covering her lips, making them very kissable.
character
full name: Kaylin Rhiannon Camrak
nicknames: K, Lin, Rhee
age: 15
grade: freshman
clique: sweetheart
gender: female
sexuality: straight
family:
Hugh Robert Camrak, 45 - rancher
Chrisane Elizabeth Camrak, 47 - baker - owns 'Chrisane's Bakery'
Caleb James Camrak, 17 - student
Aunt Jemma
physical appearance: Kaylin isn't necessarily short, but she's not come into her growth-spurt yet. She stands at five feet six inches, her legs long and firm from years of riding. She's slim, even though she eats almost anything. Her slim frame can make her appear to be fragile, but, in reality, she's fiercly strong and boasts a mean right hook. She has creamy skin that maintains a slight tan even in the dead of winter. Her hair is an auburn brown with copper undertones. Her hair is either tousled or pin-straight. In certain lights, her hair can look almost ebony. She has a full bottom lip that works to her advantage by making her appear either young, cute, and innocent or sexy, seductive, and mysterious. This trait is also found in her eyes, which are a bright, cunning, warm brown with an undertone of black. Kaylin has two scars. One in the center of her forehead. When she was three, Kaylin went running into the barn and tripped, slicing her forehead on a hoof pick. She's able to boast fourteen stitches for that one. Her other scar stretches from above one eyebrow, through it, and down to her eyelid. This one, however, was not caused by anything horse related. This was caused by her clumsiness. At age six, Kaylin went racing through the house and tripped over one of Caleb's toys, ramming her head into the doorjamb. She only got seven stitches for that one.
clothing style: Kaylin usually sticks to the basis. She wears comfortable jeans, preferring jeans that have a flair around the hem. She wears a simple t-shirt, ranging from black to white, with all colors inbetween. She usually wears a hoodie or sweatshirt, just finding it more comfortable to be in. However, Kaylin has some tricks up her sleeves. She has a separate wardrobe for when she wants to feel girly and pretty. This wardrobe consists of a few primary pieces. She has skirts: long skirts, short skirts, pleated skirts, etc. She also owns a few leggings in assorted colors. Apart from skirts, she has form-fitting shirts, fancy shirts, revealing shirts. You name it, she probably has something somewhere that matches the description quite closely. As for shoes, Kaylin prefers sneakers - especially her grey converse, decorated with cute pink hearts - but she also has her riding boots as well as a few pairs of sandals.

personality:
Kaylin can be a fierce friend or a formiddable enemy. She's supportive and always there for her friends, very loyal. However, if you're on her shit list, duck and cover. She can get nasty. Claws come out and makeup is ultimately blown - as well as her innocent cover. She's usually quiet, a good listener, good at giving advice, etc. But if someone pisses her off, she gets dirty. Not only does she curse, but she can throw a mean right hook. There's good news, though. It takes a lot to make her angry. She's a usually laid back girl who takes the high road. She doesn't want to get her hands dirty, after all.
Innocence. That word describes so much, and Kaylin is probably not one of the people it describes. I mean, she's not a lier or anything. She just knows more than a fifteen year old probably should. Apart from her innocence, or lack there of, Kaylin is confident but not in a sassy, "I know everything" type of way. She knows who she is, where she stands, and who her friends are. She speaks her mind for the most part, but has an inner shyness that sometimes overwhelms her.
You know how I mentioned she's a good advice giver? She can give you tips on makeup; boy advice; you name, she can deal it. [Well, not drugs or anything, but she's pretty open minded.] However, when she's faced with the same situation, she's hopeless. Any advice leaves her mind faster than you can say... well, anything!
history:
Kaylin grew up on a small ranch house in the country. Starting when she was little, she had a strong pull towards horses, as well as many other animals. Her father owned three or four Thoroughbreds, and when Kaylin turned five, she went on her first ride. Ever since that day, she was attached to the hip of her horse, Broken Arrow - a mare who had been on her way to the slaughter house before Kaylin's dad found her and took her in. When Kaylin turned thirteen, Broken Arrow died. No one knows the causes. One day, Broken Arrow was a lively, loving horse, doting on Kaylin. The next, she lay in her stall, dead.
Apart from the horses, Kaylin was very close to her family. Her father and she would get up early every morning and go for a walk together before he had to go to work. Her mother was her hero, always giving what she might not be able to, always doing more than was asked of her. But then there was Caleb, Kaylin's older brother. He was two when she was born, and, through the years, he was always there for her. They would do everything together. He jumped with her into the lake for her first time. He taught her how to ride. He was always there, lending a shoulder when Jacob or Ean didn't accept her Valentine's Day present. He was always fiercly protective of his younger sister.
Life was easy for Kaylin. She could ride whenever she wanted. She never objected to helping out around the house, being a very obedient daughter. She passed her classes with ease, never having to open a book. She was the luckiest girl ever. But the untimely death of West, her best friend and first true love, at age thirteen devasted Kaylin. She'd just lost Broken Arrow, and now West was gone, too. Depression descended over Kaylin. She wouldn't ride. She barely ate. She just sat around, neglecting her chores and her schoolwork. Everything was foggy, nothing concrete.
After six months of Kaylin's depression, her parents sat down with her to talk. They hadn't been able to ease her sorrow. Not even Caleb could numb the pain. So, together, they decided to send her to live with her Aunt Jemma in Cali. Kaylin didn't object, didn't even say yes or no. She just sat there. So Caleb made the decision. He would go with her, and now here they are, almost two years later, living on campus.
riding expierence: Kaylin learned how to ride at a very young age. Overall, she's been riding for nearly ten years. She knows how to ride Western, being what she was taught to ride first. After much struggling, she aquired knowledge of English as well. However, Kaylin enjoys bareback the most. The feeling of the horse, right there, nothing separating her from the free spirit beneath her - well, that's her kind of ecstacy. For most of her riding experience, Kaylin rode Broken Arrow. But she also managed to ride the most tempermental stallion - Tempest - at her father's ranch. She's ridden a few other horses, but none important enough to name for it was only once or twice.
