He took the baseball cap from his head and ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair and across his gleaming forehead. The blazing afternoon sun beat down on him as his ice blue eyes scoured the crowd before he returned the hat and picked up a bat. He took a practice swing and then stepped confidently up to the plate. First pitch. The ball made contact with the bat and flew rapidly into the outfield, becoming only a white dot in the distance. He was flying over first base long before I had a chance to stand up on the metal bleachers with the rest of the crowd. It was a home run. The girls swooned, the fans whooped and hollered, my eyes danced as I watched the college scouts make notes on official looking clipboards and smile faintly. My attention flew back to the homerun hitter who was slapping hands with ecstatic teammates and nodding his head up at choice fans in the crowd.
“Hey Cassie!”
I turned to the guy sitting behind be and adjusted my flashy black sunglasses. I didn’t know him, but I think I had seen him around before. “Yeah?”
“Your brother’s good as hell.”
“I know.”
Yes, homerun hitter, star of the baseball team and of Howard Senior High School is my brother. He goes by a lot of names- J-man, “that hottie,” Reed- but I like to call him Jess since that’s the name our parents gave him. Jesse Lee Reed, actually. He’s a senior, a year older than me, and basically my idol and hero. He’s just about perfect in my eyes, but, of course, I would never tell him that. Good in school, most popular kid in town, one hell of a baseball player. That’s just for starters. He’s got a plan for the next few years; go to college, play ball, be a coach or maybe a personal nutritionist or trainer for a college team someday. Drop dead gorgeous blue eyes, muscular build, and a face that girls would give and arm and leg to make-out with. The list could go on forever.
I, on the other hand, am a pretty normal sixteen year-old girl who is halfway through her junior year and has no clue what she wants to do with her life. I’ve got the same ice blue eyes and tan complexion as Jesse, but I have light blonde hair. People have called me pretty, but I can’t see anyone giving an arm and a leg to be with me. The name’s Cassandra Reed, but I go by Cassie, Cass, Jessie’s little sis, or Little J depending on who I’m talking to. I’m not the prettiest, the smartest, or the most popular girl in my grade. I’m just your average, girl-next-door kind of chick. But that’s okay with me. No one can have it all, except maybe Jess.
character
full name: [first, middle, last] Jenna Marie Rowe
nicknames: [if they have any] Jen
age: [in years] 17
grade: [freshman, sophmore, junior, or senior] junior
clique: [check out the list and pick one] queens
gender: [male, female?] female
sexuality: [straight, gay, bi?] straight
family: [parents and siblings. list names and ages, at least.] Jenna lives with her mother and stepfather, Marie (37) and Richard (52). She is an only child. (more info in history section)
physical appearance: [at least two paragraphs. tell us how they look. no perfect people. everyone has some flaws.]
Jenna is a little on the short side at just under 5 foot 5, but it doesn't bother her because a) she can wear heels and not tower over her friends and b) it means that there are very few guys who are shorter than her. Her mahogany brown hair falls to the middle of her shoulder blades and naturally settles in loose, spiral curles. Of course, she would rather her hair be pin straight because every girl wishes their hair looked different, even when others love it. Jenna's side bangs sweep across her face just above her chocolate brown eyes. She has a tan complexion, courtesy of her mother's side of the family.
Jenna's build is average, but she must work to keep her thin physique. She doesn't have that high metabolism that she envies some of her friends for. Her nose is a little too pointy for her liking and, at a size nine, her feet are a little too big. Her hands, on the other hand, are average size with thin fingers and usually well manicured nails.
clothing style: [at least one paragraph. how do they dress?]
If you saw Jenna at school and at the barn, you would think you were seeing two different people. At school, her look tends to be that of a prep; Abercrombie jeans, sweaters, polos, and her hair always immaculate. You would rarely catch her without makeup, though it may look one hundred percent natural. Jenna has the shoe necessities, sperrys for cold weather and rainbows for warm weather. At the barn, on the other hand, she dresses comfortably in a t-shirt or tank top with loose, walmart jeans or tan breeches. Her hair is usually thrown up in a messy ponytail or bun.
likes:
Jenna is a very friendly, outgoing girl naturally, though years of years of cheerleading has made her even more so. She loves to meet new people and has no problem walking up to a random stranger and making conversation. She is a laid back and easygoing person compared to a lot of girls. She hates to see someone having a bad day and always does her best to cheer them up. Though she is a good talker, she is an even better listener and is always there when a friend needs her.
Jenna can often be founding hanging around with guys (just as friends) because she has found that a lot of girls are just too caddy and gossipy. She recieves a lot of attention from guys, but many are turned off by the fact that she doesn't put herself out there the way they would like. One of her biggest flaws is that when she falls for a guy, she falls hard.
history: [at least three paragraphs. tell us everything]
All Jenna remembers about her father is that he used to go out and get drunk a lot. Then, when she was five, he went out and never came back. For the next seven years, it was just her and her mom. Her mom, Marie, didn't make a lot of money so they lived in a small house with not too much more than the nessessiteis. When Jenna was twelve, her mom met an older guy, Richard, with money and they got married. The family, which suddenly consisted of three rather than two, moved into a big house out in the country. At first, Jenna did not really liked Richard and he knew it. He tried to buy her affetion with nice clothes and such at first, and later with a Porche Boxter Convertible and an expensive Saddlebred.
Jenna always did ok in school, making B's and C's with a few A's. She has been a cheerleader since the seventh grade and learned to tumble in gymnastics classes that Richard gave her for her thirteenth birthday. She also played soccer during her freshmen and sophomore years of highschool. She loves the game, being on the team, and staying after school for practice because its kind of a social thing. Jenna can be a party animal and is out almost every weekend that she is not horse showing.
Jenna has found it hard to balance school, sports, her friends, and riding. It takes so much time to do well in each area and because she does so much, she doesn't have much time to spend on each. In the end, though, she always finds the time to spend with horses because that is her top priority, though her mother thinks her top priority should be school. Jenna is being sent to CA because her mom thinks that she is not doing well enough in school with all her distractions at home. Jenna hates Richard even more because he has the money to send her away to school on the other side of the country.
riding expierence: [at least one paragraph. talk about years riding, past horses, disciplines, etc.]
Jenna began riding when she was nine. She fell in love with horses after going to watch a friend at a horse show. Her mom scrounged up the money to let her take hunter/jumer lessons once a week at a cheap barn. At age 12, when Richard came along, she began to take lessons at a very nice, expensive jumper barn. That was also when she began to ride in local shows. At age 13, she met a Saddlebred trainer, Robert Cullen, at a horse show and began to ride as his barn. Jenna found that her passion was Saddlebreds and she quickly learned the ropes and began to exercise Cullen's horses and even helped him train in coming horses. She showed almost every weekend, bringing home blues almost every time. When she was 15, Richard bought her a high-end brown and white Saddlebred stallion by the name of He's Puttin of the Ritz. Though he is a high-strung horse, Ritz sweet and loving and Jenna fell in love with him. People hate to see the pair pulling up on show grounds because they know that Jenna and Ritz will be bringing home the blue.
