Today was a beautiful day. It was actually a warm day.. in winter. Tanner decided this would be the perfect day to try out Bear. Getting dressed in her breeches, a tank top that said You ride like a girl, through a sweatshirt over her tank top, and put on her tall boots. Tanner then put her hair up in a ponytail, and headed out to the barn. Her helmet, tack, grooming supplies, and all were already at the barn.
Once Tanner got to the barn, she walked down 1 aisle, and had no problem finding Bear. He reminded her so much of her beloved Kay back in Alabama, and riding him would make her feel at home again. She opened up his stall, and after calling his name once he was right up next to her. Lifting her right hand, she stroked his head, smiling. Hey pretty boy she whispered softly to him. Tanner then slipped out of the stall, closing it all the way. Then, Tanner headed off towards the tack room. Once she was there, she quickly grabbed her saddle and his bridle(including her saddle pads), grooming supplies(including her polos, halter and lead rope), and helmet, then headed back towards Bear.
She set her stuff down in front of his stall, then grabbed her halter and lead rope. She headed into Bear's stall door and unlocked it. He was still standing by the door. Tanner stepped inside and stepped to the left side of his head. She held the halter below his muzzle and then gently put it higher until it was on his nose. She strapped the strap behind his ears then attached the lead rope. She pushed the door open all the way and lead him out onto cross ties.
--------------------After Grooming/Tacking--------------------
Tanner strapped on her helmet and was ready to go. She pulled the reins over Bear's head and headed on outside. Halting Bear, she pulled both her stirrups down. Then, she lifted her foot up, getting it in the stirrup. It was hard since he was so much taller then her, but she got it in. Gripping onto the saddle, she managed to pull herself onto the back of him. Getting both feet in the stirrups, she squeezed him on forward. Tanner headed over to the outdoor arena first, to get warmed up.
--------------------After Warming Up--------------------
Tanner then headed out onto the trails, where she would see how well he is at his cross country. She squeezed him and started at a sitting trot. Once they were nearing the path she would take, Tanner squeezed Bear up to a canter. She moved with him well, and watched as the first jump came. It was what looked like a tree that had fallen down(but was purposely there) that was about 3 - 3.5 feet high. Tanner continued to squeeze, and then leaned forward into her 2 point position. She felt him lift off the ground, then gently land back on eath. Tanner sat back up straight, with a smile on her face.
There were more jumps just like that, and each time it was almost like it was jumped the same way. Tanner slowed him to a walk, deciding that they would just relax now and go on a regular path with NO obstacles. She turned onto another path, big enough for two horses to fit through, just incase someone else was coming the other way. They had been jumping for 30 minutes, so she decided that maybe she would do more later. Tanner loosened her reins, just walking around, relaxing.

ASHLYNN.[/color] "Alcohol: The best times we'll never remember."
Ashlynn could ride in both English, and Western style and seeing as how she didn't feel like getting dressed in the proper attire for it, so instead, she just threw on some ripped faded jeans and a black t-shirt. Though, she wasn't the type to buy ripped jeans from the store, mind you, in her mind that was pointless. Why do that when you could have fun in a perfectly normal pair of jeans a couple of times and they'd be just as ripped and torn as those expensive torn jeans, eh? Today, she decided she'd give the school horse she was working with, Bandit, some exercise. After all, she hadn't really been to visit, or ride him since she'd met him a couple days before in the barn. But, needless to say, she'd been preoccupied.
She couldn't help but bite her lower lip and grin as she thought of Jake, but as she approached Bandit's stall, she quickly forced the thoughts of the handsome boy from her mind. She had to focus on her horse for now, or she'd have hell to pay from the administrator. So, quickly, she cross-tied the Anglo-Arab and retrieved his tack from the tack room as well as her grooming supplies. Soon enough, she'd groomed him to nearly flawless perfection. Stepping back to admire her work, she grinned confidently.
"Alright, Bandit boy, you ready?"
She cooed softly to the gelding and her response was a snort, and the stomp of his hooves, the horseshoes he wore clattering on the floor. Laughing in response to his silly behavior, she grinned, and set out to tacking him up. Once she was finished, she led him outside of the barn and placed her foot in the correct stirrup and a second later, she was swinging her leg over the other side and was seated comfortably in the saddle. A cluck of her tongue and the gentle squeezing of her knees into his sides was all the reassurance the equine needed.
In a heartbeat, they were off towards the trails. Giving the horse his head, she let him lengthen his stride to a flowing canter until she spotted another rider in the distance. Bandit was quickly eating the distance between the door, and she gathered her reigns and drew back on them to slow him down to a controlled trot. "Hey," She murmured softly to the girl, flashing her a confident smile. "I'm Ashlynn."

The trails seemed empty today. So far, Tanner hadn't seen anyone on the trail, until then. The person was kind of far away, so she didn't know who it was. She wouldn't know who the person was anyways, since she didn't really know anyone so far at the academy. Since she had been riding in the middle of the path, she moved over to the right so the person could get past. When the person, female, spoke to her, Tanner halted. Looking back, she quickly turned around to catch up with the girl.
She squeezed Bear so he would begin to trot. Soon, Bear caught up with Bandit. Hey she replied back, looking from Ashlynn to where they were going. Nice to meet you Ashlynn. I'm Tanner she said. There was a silence. Tanner was kind of shy, and wasn't really sure what to say at the moment. She tried to think of something to say, then finally said, So, you go to Canterbury? she asked, figuring that was kind of dumb, since this trail was on campus.
