Jake was the new kid to Canterbury Academy, his younger sister Jackie- who was a sophomore had already been here a week or so. But what kind of guy would he be if he hung out with his sister, his first night of being on campus at a new school. Being that he wasn't about to do that, even though him and Jackie got along quite well- he thought he'd hit the club he'd heard about early today, to see if he could meet some new people and maybe gain a few friends.
Jake was dressed in jeans which were a bit baggy- but they were hanging down to his knees or anything like some guys wore them and he had on a semi fitted white t-shirt. His haird was gelled up a bit in the front- classic Jake style as Jackie would say, this was how he always wore his hair, otherwise it was just down, if he was running late and didn't have time. A rush of warm air hit Jake as he pulled open the club doors, he scanned the crowded dance floor for a moment and then made his way to the 'bar' area, and sat down and ordered himself a rootbeer- as they didn't serve alcohol. But Jake wasn't a drinker anyways so that didn't matter to him. Jake scanned around the room another time, hoping someone would possibly come talk to him, hopefully a girl, would talk to him. Jake always had a way with the ladies, and he loved hanging out and having a good time with a girl, plus Jake wouldn't admit to most- but he loved to dance.

Ashlynn was, as most would call it, "dressed to kill." With a dark crimson dress that only went mid-thigh, if that, that fit snugly to her feminine curves and heels to match, she looked fabulous. Her normally straight hair was curled into tight ringlets, falling in a disarrayed but not bad in the slightest fashion to frame her pale face. Kohl outlined her dark blue eyes, and just the slightest hint of eyeshadow and mascara had been applied. She was one of the newest girls here at Canterbury, and she wasn't exactly happy with it. Ashlynn realized that this, well, it wasn't her type of place and the people here wouldn't ever accept her. Not when they realized exactly who and how she was. Shaking her head, ringlets fell into her eyes as she let her gaze scan the crowd. That's when she saw him.
Her heart raced and her throat closed up, eyes widening in terror and awe. Addison? Here, of all places? She blinked rapidly, quickly doing a double take at the guy who'd just entered the club. A better look told her that no, it wasn't Addison. Someone different, obviously. She shook her head, a frown tugging her lips downward. The tip of her tongue ran over her lower lip and she sunk her teeth into her bottom lip in frustration. She'd gotten so worked up. Shaking her head once more, she slowly stood and left the table she'd been occupying since she'd arrived. Being in a new town was harder than she originally thought. She didn't know absolutely ANYONE. She maneuvered her way through the crowd of dancing teens and reached the bar. Slipping into a seat, she didn't quite notice that the very boy she'd mistaken for Addison was seated right beside her. "Dr. Pepper." She murmured to the waitress softly.
Ashlynn let her gaze slip across the occupied room, then slowly her eyes drifted to the seat beside her. Her eyebrows slowly rose in vague alarm, but it was washed away with a tiny smile. Almost timid. "Hi there," Her voice was a harmony few ever heard. Feminine and almost song-like; melodious. "I'm Ashlynn. What's your name?" Yet another grin was flashed at him. Quite the avid flirt, she wasn't too sure whether or not she should immediately break her anti-social habits. After all, this guy could have a girlfriend who he was waiting to show up. Now, she leaned back in her chair, torso facing him as she watched with a reserved grin.
ooc|| LOL, by the way, I think you posted this in the wrong board. this is Lycio's Eatery. The club is the board above this. ^^[/sub][/blockquote]

Jake scanned the club another time, he must look like some big shot, ha- with no one there to hang out with or even talk to for that matter. Almost as if his thoughts were answered by god, a gorgeous girl seated herself beside him at the bar. He looked her over for a brief moment, not in a creepy way- but she was just gorgeous and he couldn't really help himself. Sure Jake was a player- but he honestly and truthfully wanted to redeem that quality, he hated how he'd treated some girls with cheating on them, but Jake was determined to make an effort; new school- new Jake. As the girl said 'hi there,' and instant smile or more like smirk lite jake's face. His smile did look more like a smirk, but it truly was a smile. He replied with a simply, hey- I'm jake; it's nice to meet you, Ashlynn. Jake turned back to the bar for a moment and took a drink of his rootbeer, then turned back to face ashlynn; So do you go to Canterbury? He asked, figuring that most students in the town who were still in highschool, went to the academy. He really wanted to dance, but he refrained from asking her just yet, being that they just met less than a few minutes ago.

Ashlynn's gaze slid from the bar to cut sharply at Jake, watching as he looked her over and she nonchalantly returned the favor. He had a nice body, and he was quite the looker. The smirk that blazed across his face screamed arrogance and for a moment, her lips twitched, her smile morphing into a confident smirk. "The pleasure's all yours, Jake." The slender girl had to lean forward, murmuring the words softly in his ear in order to be heard over the pulsing beat of the loud music. "And yes, I go to Canterbury. Just got here, infact." Coy voice flooded into his ears softly once more. She tilted her head, listening as the song changed from one to another. Recognition flickered over her face and her smirk became more prominent. "I love this song. Wanna dance?" The girl exclaimed, grinning inwardly.
There she went again, doing what she always did. Being reckless. Jumping into something headfirst with her eyes closed. But that's how Ashlynn worked. Besides, every risk could be the risk that breaks you or the one that saves you. How this would end up, Ashlynn wasn't too sure but thoughts of the future were far from her mind.
Though she wasn't sure whether or not her bold invitation had been accepted by the handsome guy, but either way, she'd slowly make her way to the dance floor. If he'd chosen to follow, she'd take his hand in her own gentle grasp and lead the way. Lithe, and slender body swaying to the beat, this was where Ashlynn was the most animate .. the most alive. On the dance floor and with horses. It was like the bad times were swept away by euphoria, as dreadfully cliche as it sounded. Lashes fluttered as she flashed a coy grin at the boy, body pressing against his own as she leaned close. "So, Jake, where's your girl?" Her words were almost a shout, as the music had gotten quite loud at this point.

Jake smiled this time, a real genuine Jake smile; not his cocky, smirky smiles. The girl sitting beside him was truly gorgeous. Ashlynn had a musical voice, and he couldn't help but smile just at the sound of it, when she said she'd just gotten here and was new to the school, he replied with That makes two of us then, I just got here a few days ago. Jake kept his eyes on the stunning girl before him, and noticed that she had beautiful blue eyes, he smiled even more and then heard her ask if he wanted to dance. He smiled again- he just couldn't wipe the happiness off of his face now, he looked at her and said, I was going to ask you the same thing. He loved Ashlynn's confidence and she wasn't after to ask him to dance first.
As she made her way out to the dance floor he gently took her hand, and followed her out- they were in the middle of the heated crowd and began to dance with the music and it pounded through the club speakers. With all of the people surronding them on the dance floor; their bodies were pushed close together, Jake put his hands on her hips respectably he didn't want to push her to far or anything, being that they barely knew eachother- so he would respect and her space.
There is no girl in my life right now, I'm livin' it single, he said with a small laugh- he was hoping maybe the girl he was having a great time with here dancing with could possibly be the girl in his life in the future? And what about you Ms. Ashlynn- what's a girl like you doing without a boyfriend?

Jackie, the sixteen year old sophomore was dressed in her classic aeropostale hailey skinny jeans, which were her favorite- she decided that tonight she wanted to head over to the club to maybe meet someone new people, so far she’d met Cole and Levi- they were great guys but she wanted to get out and meet more. She was rushed with a huge burst of warm air as she pulled the club entrance door open, the place was packed with kids her age, and some older college aged people too. She moved her deep green eyes over the crowd of people around the dance floor and her eyes immediately landed on the family gelled blonde hair of her 6’0” brother Jake. Who apparently was dancing with some girl he’d met earlier in the night. Well at least this one had enough confidence to get Jake herself without having to go through Jackie, which was a relief; she thought to herself.
She thought she’d have a little fun and piss Jake off just a bit, she knew he hate her forever but she couldn’t help it. Jake! she shouted over the music in his direction, then yelled another Hey! with a cute flirty smile, and waved her fingers in his direction. He’d be pissed, and the girl probably thought that Jackie was his girlfriend or something, ha- ew. But Jackie would set it straight once they came over to her or she went to the.

She couldn't help but laugh at Jake's response and once they were out on the dance floor, she glanced down with a grin to see he'd placed his hands on her hips. She maneuvered her body closer until it was pressed against his own, leaning closer to hear his words. She tilted her head back, laughing in a jubilant fashion. "Waitin' on a guy like you." Her body still in sync with the pulsing beat of the club's music, she danced with and against him, eyes closing for a brief moment with a grin. Here she was, taking a risk. Putting her heart in danger. Sure, she could walk away from this encounter without a scratch and nothing but a great night behind her, or she could get caught up in something she never wanted to experience again. She was taking a big risk. Closing her eyes, a single thought entered her head; The risk that might break you might be the one to save you. Opening her eyes, she peered up at the bright lights questionably.
This was one of those many times that she wished she wasn't colorblind. Because in all honesty, she was completely colorblind. She'd never seen a shred of actual color in her entire life. She only saw in black and white. Glancing up at Jake, after all, it was necessarily seeing as how she was only five foot, three inches. Narrowing her dark blue eyes in concentration, she stared at him with a seductive grin blazing across her lips. She wondered, briefly, what color his eyes were. What shade his hair was. Then, quickly, she mentally scolded herself. She was here for a good time, and only at Canterbury because of the state. She didn't want to fall in love.. not with this boy who obviously had it all. He had a good life, or so it'd seem. The last thing he needed was Ashlynn Cortez in it.
Then, reluctantly, Ashlynn slowly began to let her guard down and let the walls she so carefully placed around herself crumble. Then, the doors to the club swung open and in breezed a girl. The pale-complexioned beauty didn't give her a second glance, until she called out Jake's name. Snapping her head in her direction, Ashlynn immediatly did a double take. Frozen in startlement, she didn't move her body from being pressed against his own, grimacing to herself. Rolling her eyes, she frowned. You actually THOUGHT this kid was the real deal? Grow up, Ashlynn. That annoying inner-voice hissed immediatly and the girl winced. "The last thing I need is another player." She murmured softly and almost half-heartedly put her hands on his chest, just moments away from shoving him away from her.

jake.
Jake heard his name and immediately spun his head to see who was calling at him, then looked to see it was his younger sister Jackie. He groaned, letting his head fall back slightly in annoyance- he looked back at Ashlynn who seemed pissed. Great, way to go jackie, just ruin everything for me. He thought to himself. He looked down at the stunning girl next to his body, dancing with him. His eyes were pleading- Ashlynn; I know this is probably the last thing you want to hear; but please let me explain. He took her hand hoping she wouldn't just leave him there; and led her through the crowd back to where his younger sister Jackie stood. The moment he got within a few feet of his sister, he let go of Ashlynn's hand, then he scolded at her and said, Damn it, Jackie. You always have to screw around with things don't you?
Ashlynn.. this is my younger sister Jackie; she's a sophomore at Canterbury. She's a little pain in my ass sometimes and always screws around with me. Jake explained to her; the last thing he wanted her thinking was that he was just a player, but that wasn't true at least not anymore. He looked at the girl with pleading eyes, hoping that she wasn't to mad at him.
******************************
jackie.
The young teen stared with her green eyes out at her older brother, and the girl he was with. When he'd caught sight of her he looked pissed, and the girl looked even more mad at him. Crap- she didn't exactly want it to turn out this way, she just wanted to mess with him a little. After the two older teens came over to Jackie she let Jake explain the story and then she opened her mouth to speak and said; Look- Ashlynn? she stammered hoping she caught her name correctly, through the loud upbeat music. I'm not Jake's girlfriend, I'm his sister like he explained; I didn't mean to piss the either of you off or anything like that, I was just trying to mess with Jake's head. I'm sorry- I truly am. She hoped for the stupid mistake that the young teen had choosen to make, would just blow over and Ashlynn would be able to forgive her for causing the conflict between her and Jake.

ASHLYNN I just want you to know who I am. Frowning to herself as he spoke, she inhaled sharply- ready to spit some hateful remark at him, but instead, to her own surprise, she took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "Alright." He took her hand in his own and she flinched slightly, reminded of worse times. Shaking her head, she mentally reminded herself, Those times are behind you, Ash. Swallowing as she approached the other girl, she couldn't help but scowl openly at her. Old habits die hard and generally, Ashlynn could be like all other girls in some aspects when it came to jealousy. This time was no exception. Her eyes closed, letting the music become a dull mummer in the background before she slowly opened her eyes and looked from Jake, then back to the girl as he spoke. His sister? Almost instantly, she felt sorrow rise in the pit of her stomach and tears lurked beneath the surface of her eyes. Her eyes, when moist, became a lighter shade of blue but their intensity had yet to fade. Swallowing quickly, she flashed a forced smile at the two.
Quickly, she forced out a laugh and a stoic, impassive expression jumped across her features. "Hey, it's fine. Great to meet you Kris- ..Jackie." For a second, her already pale complexion intensified as she paled visibly but it was quickly hidden by her flashing a broad smile. She glanced up at Jake and bumped her shoulder against his own, grinning slightly to show all was forgiven. Ashlynn had yet to notice she still comfortably held his hand in her own. "No sweat, Jackie, after all, we've just met. I'm sure your brother has a hot chick just lying around somewhere." Ashlynn murmured jokingly, grinning prominently.

Jake told Jackie that he see her sometime later, and he'd deal with her then. He then reverted his full attention back to Ashlynn and kept hold of her hand and led her back to the bar so they could sit down a moment, he propped himself up onto the bar stool and waited till Ashlynn was seated next to him. Ashlynn- I really am sorry, I know that isn't exactly the best way to start to get to know someone, he said with a slight laugh and looked into her eyes. So, do you wanna go try that again? He asked, leaning his head in the direction of the dance floor.

ASHLYNN Found true love, lost your heart. NOW YOU DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE. She lifted her hand in a slight wave as Jackie left them and followed Jake back to the bar, tilting her head curiously. She couldn't help but smile at his apology as she slid to the seat beside him. "Hey, it's alright- I've been through worse." She muttered softly. Lifting a hand to wave the waitress away she looked at him with intrigue. "I don't see why not." Grinning, she'd rise from the barstool and follow him out to the dance floor. Once out, she immediately drifted closer, almost instinctively. A few minutes later, the song changed to Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls and the dance floor soon became riddled with couples slow-dancing to the "cute" song. In all honesty, it was actually one of her favorite songs.
"And I'd give up forever to touch you Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment And all I can breathe is your life Cause sooner or later it's over I just don't want to miss you tonight"
Lips moved, the words a faint whisper on her lips as she sung along. Her hips swayed and she meandered closer to him, slipping her arms around his neck and tilting her head, glancing up at him with a curious smile. "What color are your eyes?" She murmured softly. Of course, guys who weren't that perceptive could easily mistake this question to be asked due to how considerably dark it was out on the dance floor at this time, but in reality, it was 'cause she honestly couldn't tell.
"And I don't want the world to see me Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am."
Now a smile curved her full, crimson lips upward, her body pressed against his as she closed her eyes momentarily, exhaling softly. This was actually the most fun she'd had in a while. Lashes fluttered as she opened her eyes again, tilting her head back to look up at him with a grin. She couldn't help but hum the along with the words, no longer singing, as she didn't quite realized she'd done it to begin with. The song was one of her favorites, and the band was addicting to say the least. Tilting her head, she waited for a retort.

Jake smiled at her as the two moved back out onto the hot, packed dancefloor; now clustered with couples- who began to dance to the slow song. He rested his hands over eachother on the small of her back; and drew her close to him as the two swayed with the music. Jake smiled down at her, and thought it was adorable the way she moved her lips and sung along to the music to herself. When he heard her ask 'what color are your eyes?' he smiled, and replied with a soft; My eyes are brown, he then lifted a hand off the small of her back, and gently brushed one of her curls from her face as she leaned against him, and whispered to her; for only her to hear, your blue eyes are beautiful. He continued to sway with the sound of the music with Ashlynn in his arms. He smiled down at her and kept his eyes locked on her, he then proceeded to ask her; Do you mind if I call you Ash? He knew it was almost dorky in a sense to ask her, but he didn't want to go give her a pet name; if she didn't want one or didn't like people calling her that in general.
Jake knew it was getting late as he got here around nine, he pulled back just slightly to full look at Ashlynn's face, It's getting pretty late, I think we should head out soon. He told her, although he didn't want this night to end, he had class tomorrow and couldn't stay out all hours of the night. Do you need a ride back to campus? He asked her, so maybe he'd get to spend some more time with her.

ASHLYNN I thought what I felt was SIMPLE - love till you feel it.
She smiled up at him, it was almost cliche how jubilant she felt at this moment but it was incredible. Despite the encounter with Jackie, everything had gone considerably smooth. When he answered, she smiled, closing her eyes for a moment. She could only imagine colors. She only knew what people told her about them. She knew that the true color purple was only seen at sunset, and only for a few moments. Her mother had told her that.. before things went to hell in a hand-basket. Jake spoke again and her eyes opened, widening in surprise. In all honesty, she'd never known her eyes were blue. She'd never asked anyone and no one had ever told her. Not even her own mother or Addison had known she was colorblind. Only Kristie. "Really? They're blue?" She murmured softly, smiling slightly.
"Do you mind if I call you Ash?" His inquiry elicited a soft laugh from her lips and she tilted her head, smirking up at him. "Normally I'd say hell no, but in your case- why not?" She murmured softly. She tilted her head back, peering up at the dimly lit and dark ceiling that loomed overhead thoughtfully as they swayed in time to the song. When he mentioned that it was getting late, she frowned inwardly and nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I've got calculus and zoology around 11. What a joy." Ashlynn muttered, rolling her eyes in discontent for a moment. She leaned forward, lips hovering near his own, forming a grin. But she didn't kiss him, just stayed there, feigning as if it were necessarily in order to be heard over the music.
Acting was one thing she excelled at, after all. "Yeah, that'd be nice. My license is s-.. lost." She smoothly covered up her slip-up. She flashed him a seductive smile that'd surely distract him if he'd heard her mess up. Ashlynn had no intent on letting him know what type of life she'd come from, or the kind she'd lived before Canterbury. If he was going to become anything more than a great memory of her first night at the Academy, she couldn't let him find out. It'd ruin everything.. He surely wouldn't want to even talk to her after he found out the truth about Ashlynn Cortez.
Now, she waited for him to lead the way, a smile that was sure to be contagious set across her lips. Her grin was uncontrollable. She wasn't sure why, but she just felt so.. damn happy.

Jake smiled at the beautiful girl, Ashlynn, in his arms as the song finally came to a close. Really? They're blue? when he heard hear say that, he was slightly confused- she didn't knwo her eyes were blue? Puzzled he thought he'd ask just be sure he heard that clearly; You didn't know your eyes were blue? He asked softly and with curiosity in his voice. Then he smiled when she gave him permission to call her Ash, he was really having a great time with her tonight- and hoped that they could hang out together sometime after tonight too. As she told him that she had zoology and calculus tomorrow- he ran through his schedule in his mind thinking over his classes realizing he must have both with her, a smile spread across his face.
Well looks like I'm going to be your escort to class tomorrow, he teased; of course he wasn't going to make her go with him to class tomorrow; but he'd love it if she wanted an escort, ha. When she said she'd like a ride back to campus, he took her hand once more and led her through the crowd they loosened his fingers from hers and and held the door for her; as they escaped into the cold night air of California. Jake slipped his arm around Ashlynn's shoulders and led her towards his car, catching a glance at her that it was okay to have his arm around her.
Jake drove a 2007 black Ford Escape, he led the pretty teen to the passenger side of the car, and opened the door for her with a smile on his face and gave a small laugh; then let her get into the car and closed the door once she was in. Then walking around to the driver's side and getting, he buckled his seat belt- and then stuck the keys in the ignition.

ASHLYNN I NEVER KNEW MY HEART COULD BEAT LIKE THIS. until i met you
She smiled as he made the inquiry, "I see the world for what it is. Something simple. Every color is just another shade of gray." She responded softly, hoping he'd catch her meaning. Most people didn't understand what it meant to be colorblind, and thought it was similar to being blind but obviously it was far from it. Aside from the fact she couldn't see colors, her vision was nearly perfect. As he mentioned being her escort for class tomorrow, she tilted her head back and let a trickle of melodious laughter rumble from her throat. "Well then, lead the way, prince charming." Ashlynn giggled playfully and followed him as he led the way to the club doors once more.
She shivered almost immediately after stepping outside. It was certainly not the same weather as when she'd arrived at the club. It'd been earlier in the night, though, so it was understandable. Jake slipped his arm around her slender and almost bare shoulders and gave her a questioning glance but she only grinned in response. Momentarily, her woes and troubles had been forgotten. Even her grim past wasn't on her mind.
As they approached the car and he opened the door for her, she ran her hand along the sleek side and grinned to herself, "Beautiful." She remarked. A couple of her friends "back home," had been into cars and she'd picked up an interest in them as well. Finally, she slipped down into the seat. He shut the door and meandered over to the driver's side and slipped in. It wasn't until he buckled his own seat belt, that she was reminded to buckle her own. Flashing him a coy grin, she winked playfully. "Safety first, hm?" She murmured teasingly.
She leaned against the seat as the engine revved as he started back towards the Campus and reality struck her, seemingly at once. Ashlynn wasn't sure what she was doing here, but somehow, it felt.. right, maybe even safe. But at this particular moment, Ashlynn was compelled to do two things. Get the hell away from California and Jake before she fell for him even slightly, and kiss him. Damn. What had she gotten herself into now?
I WISH I COULD RECKLESSLY LOVE LIKE I WANT TO. [/font] [/center][/blockquote]
