Peyton slipped into her riding gear and looked at herself in the mirror. Her medium length black hair set in a side pony on her right side. After approving her look in the mirror she walked toward her bed and grabbed her riding helmet, and rested it on her side. She headed out of the dorm and headed down the hallway. Soon enough the light sun greeted her. I think I will ride outside today. Peyton thought to herself. She took a deep breath of the fresh air. She slowly breathed out the air. It felt so good to get out and ride finally. This was the first time to ride since she got there.
Peyton had no friends here at Canterbury yet. She was hoping she would meet someone though. She was getting lonely and didnt have any new friends. She didnt like this but she knew it was time for a change...and now was the time to do it. Peyton's feet just kept leading her to the barn. Once she reached the barn she made her way around the path in the barn to find the stall that had May Flower on the stall name plate. Peyton smiled as she looked at May. Peyton grabbed the neon pink halter from the hook. Peyton unclipped the stall and let herself in. She gently placed the halter around May's nose. She buckled it in place and clipped the lead rope onto the hook.
Peyton swung open the stall door and lead the way out of the stall with the pink lead rope in her hands. She tyed May up outside of the stall. Her pink grooming supplies were sitting on top of her trunk. She grabbed the curry comb and ran it over May's body. Peyton always liked grooming horses because she knew the horses liked it. She picked up the pink soft brush and quickly ran over May. Peyton smiled at her work well done. Now she needed to saddle May. Peyton grabbed the pink saddle blanket that set on top of the english saddle that was sitting on the rack outside of the stall. Peyton lightly placed it on top of May. The colors looked good against her chestnut coloring. Peyton swung the english saddle onto the horse.
Once the tacking was all done Peyton led May out of the barn. May gave a loud whinny to her friends which she was taken away from in the barn. Peyton looked for an empty arena outside. She found one that had little jumps set up. She wanted to jump today but she wasnt quite sure. Peyton and May headed over to that arena. No one was there but she hoped that someone would show up so that she could meet someone new. They walked over to the arena and opened the gate. Peyton set down her waterbottle on top of the post outside of the arena. She opened the gate and let them in then shut it lightly behind her.
Peyton climbed up into the saddle. It had been a while since she had been in a saddle becuase of all the traveling she had been doing. She kicked May into a light canter so that they could warm up. The dirt flipped up from behind May. Peyton couldnt help but smile. She loved being on top of a horse. Peyton wanted to try out May's gallop so she kicked her into a gallop. Her gallop was smooth. She threw a little buck here and there but thats probably from not getting out of the stall for a while. Peyton laughed slightly and pulled back on the reins. She wanted to try to jump but she didnt want to rush into anything. Are you ready for jumps May? Peyton asked her horse. She patted May's neck which was still dry but would probably soon be damp.
Peyton decided to head for the jumps. She lined up May toward the small jump that wasnt very high. Peyton kicked May to go and cleared the jump with feet. Peyton headed toward the other jump and jumped it. Peyton smiled. May's jumping seemed so smooth. Peyton stopped May right by the gate and reached over and grabbed her water. Peyton looked around and looked to see if anyone was coming. No one was there she sighed lightly. She wished someone would show up. Peyton took a swig of her cold water. Peyton put her hand on May's shoulder and the other hand was holding the reins. Peyton's brown eyes scanned the perimeter and saw no one. I guess its just you and me. Peyton said to May.
